Hi all. Some may remember that I was a member of the forum a few years ago. Since then, I've knitted socks and shawls and crocheted hats and blankets, but arthritis in my thumb joints has meant I've had to reconsider my hobbies. I picked up a copy of Stitch yesterday and absolutely loved the Shisha Flowers cards. I was even more interested when I realised that they were the design of Mabel Figworthy, whom I remember from the forum. So, I thought I'd show my face again and perhaps do some stitching, which may be more gentle on my poor hands!

Lovely to see some names I remember. BTW, I had to re-register, as my old details were out of date, so now I'm Genevieve2 - or Genevieve the Sequel!

Hello and welcome back!! Here's hoping that stitching will be easier on your thumbs than knitting or crocheting have been. Perhaps one of those craft gloves would help? I can certainly understand that seeing one of Mabel's designs would call you back. They are amazing. Are you thinking of stitching some? Whatever you decide to try, I hope that you will post pictures for us. Enjoyed the first Genevieve so I'm sure the sequel will be as good or better!!

Hi everybody, Thank you for the lovely welcome. You're quite right, Wendy, I did have a cheetah, but I couldn't find it when I re-registered, so have chosen a cute kitten instead! Very much a different kind of cat.

I've tried craft gloves, Carole, but, unfortunately, they don't make any difference. I've also had many steroid injections into the main thumb joints. However, I do have an appointment with a hand surgeon in a few weeks, so we'll see what happens then.

I think I'm going to spend some time tomorrow going through my stitching stuff, dust the cobwebs off, and see what I've got. I would definitely like to try the Shisha Flower cards, they're lovely.
