I know I said my next project was going to be Holstein, but I quickly discovered I would have to adjust how I stitch. The fabric is much larger than any I've worked before and I'm making much smaller stitches as well. I've decided that I'm not comfortable stitching it in a hoop so I want to try using a q-snap and using a grime guard. Getting the q-snap was easy but I'm waiting on the grim guard. My mom said she could make one since I have no skills with the sewing machine but I figured it would probably just be faster to get one from etsy and it wouldn't take mom away from her own projects.

So, in the meantime, I've been going though my stash of smaller projects. The first one wasn't cross-stitch but needlepoint, which I've always been curious about. The pattern was stamped onto the canvas. At first I thought that would make it a breeze but than I realized that all 4 of the blues looked alike and sometimes even looked like the white. There were also many places where more than one color met. I think I drove myself crazy because I wanted it to be "perfect." I finally had to just say "screw it" and figured as long as it stilled looked like a horse when I held it back, I was doing fine. And lets not even discuss the backstitching.

So I was really happy that the next item in my stash was a cross-stitch with a pattern. The thread colors in the kit however, required some figuring out. It came with 6 blues and 2 purples but the pattern called for 5 blues and 3 purples. I figured since the purple was only in the lettering, I'd just stitch two of the purples with one color and not use the blue. It was a nice, quick, stress-free stitch.

This last one was an unfinished work. The butterflies had already had the statin stitch done and one had all the cross-stitching done. This was another one that was on stamped fabric but I didn't feel as stressed about it as I did the horse. I think I didn't have to try to figure out what color went were based on colors on the canvas.

I hope my grime guard comes soon because I'm running out of small projects in my stash.

All are pretty designs but I do love the horse best of all. Well done on such good workmanship. I know on tapestry it is difficult to judge exactly where colours start and end but you have made a wonderful job of this. Good luck with your next project. Look forward to seeing it on here :applesauce: :applesauce: :D
