Hi, I'm new to cross stitch forum

Post by Mitziv »

Hi, I'm new to the cross stitch forum, so haven't quite figured how to navigate to the site I need. I've been cross stitching for about 27 years, and love to work on Christmas Stockings - especially Dimensions patterns. My granddaughter is starting medical school this fall, and I want to make a special stocking for her, but can't find a pattern. Where can I go to have one designed for me?? I'd like a "doctor" motif ie a little girl with her new doctor's kit examining her doll or teddy bear under the Christmas tree. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciatedl.

Welcome to the forum from the West of Scotland!

Oooh, Christmas stockings! I'm sure someone around here either knows a design that would be useful, or knows someone who can design one.

 Hello and welcome to the forum from South Carolina! What a clever idea for a stocking. I agree with Serinde that someone here will have an idea about how to find one or where to go to get one designed. Have you looked for similar designs that could be adapted to a Christmas stocking?

How wonderful to get replies from my post already!!! I have checked out the Dimensions line of stockings and didn't find what I'm looking for. I'm not an expert cross stitcher, but could probably figure out how to adapt a design to make a stocking shape. I'm really anxious to see what's out there. I have lots of time, since my granddaughter will just be starting medical school this fall, and will be there for the next four years. But, as I mentioned, I'm in my 70's so would like to get it done. So, any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello & welcome from North Wales. What a lovely idea for a cross stitch stocking for your granddaughter. I'm also in my 70s but only started x-stitching properly a couple of years ago. Wish I had known earlier how good it is as a hobby. Did tapestry & long stitch before plus a small amount of embroidery. Spent lots of year s knitting tho so kept myself occupied. Look forward to seeing your stocking once you start it. As others have said there will probably be someone out there who can help you. :D

If you can find a design that you like, I think it wouldn't be that difficult to find someone who could help you convert it to a stocking without it being outrageously expensive. If it is out there to be found, someone here can probably find it.

Hello! I am pretty new to this forum as well. I found this site and bought a cross stitch pattern online. She may be willing to design what you're looking for:

I made a keychain that my son really liked with this pattern.

Hi and Welcome from me too. I love the idea of a 'doctor' theme for a Christmas Stocking and I am sure there will be a way of bringing this to light for you :D .
