I started work on my own design - Santa Claus, King of Hearts - already I find I am deviating from the chart I created in PCStitch. My color choices always shift. In this case I had used a light and darker shade of red to make gradient effect in the program but once I got to stitching it there really wasn't enough space for the eye to process the effect. I often view patterns large than 100% and invent details that don't translate. I prefer the open work look.
I was very happy when I figured out how to include a photo graph but now I wish I could control the size in this forum. It seems I have to shrink the original image in order for it to appear smaller in this forum. This was a quick photo taken with an older iPhone and shared on Facebook. I didn't notice the size of the image until I posted it here. So often I am using my phone and the small screen makes the photo look small. Even on my computer the newsfeed only takes up 1/3 of the screen and so the photo seems a reasonable size. Here the photo appears as at least an 8"x10" and awkwardly large.
If my phone photos seem big my Canon photos will by HUGE!
I will try to sort it out. I am hoping I will not have to upload photos into my computer and manipulate them with software. It would be so much easier to share the photos I am already sharing with friends and family on Facebook

I had posted on Sunday. I don't know how often I should share. I am near the midpoint of this design and I am hopeful that I will finish it before next Sunday.
Santa is stitching up nicely. I think I have sorted out the cross stitch colors. Back stitching will be the next debate/challenge. The face needs back stitching but I am not sure if the rest of the design will need it. I am worried the open work letter "K" and heart might need to be filled in for the design to come together. I have to stitch it to sort it out.

I love it. It must be very gratifying to work on your own design. I would say update as often as you like. The forum has seemed less busy to me lately and i always look forward to updates and new posts to comment on. I look forward to your next update.

It's looking really good! And as far as I can tell there is no such thing as posting too often.... Unless you are going to post a picture after every stitch And while I can't speak for everyone I like seeing progress no matter how fast or slow it is.
Also, I'm loving your design. I'm really impressed that you created it yourself; it looks really awesome. I'm hoping the end product will be everything you were hoping for.

I agree completely! The number of updates is up to you.

Not an uncommon occurrence when it is spring and summer for most of us and outdoor activities and longer days and vacations (or holidays depending on where you live) take time away from stitching.

This is very pretty & a lovely design you have made. A very good start on it, you seem to be flying along with your stitching. Look forward to next updates
