You know the books reps give to shop/stall holders with bits of sample threads in, where could I get one from? Contacted both Anchor and DMC and had the same response "We'll get back to you", 6 weeks later still waiting
I've got 2 carriers full of threads and no way of knowing whats what
I wonder if we could make a communal one to be passed around members of the forum as needed? I don't have all the DMC colours, but I'd be happy to start it off with the ones I do have and then send it on to someone else to add to. We could add in samples of any speciality threads we have too. Would that be worth doing, do you think or would postage costs would make it too expensive anyway?

Doing one would require a bit of fine tuning...most people use digital cameras these days right? And scanners? Both of which are well known for distorting colour, then they show up on the monitor which again is well known for distorting colour. So it would actually involve tampering with a lot of settings. And the only sure fire way to test if you've got it right is to print it. And for something like this the settings would need to be perfect... I don't know if we could make one...
Angel, as far as I understood it, Susan was suggesting making a real shade card, with pieces of thread attached to it, not photos. Were you, Susan?
I am afraid it would take a lot of money and time to send it around to make it complete, and also, when it's ready, it will have to be sent by post all the time... I am not sure... Maybe it will be worth for those living in the same country?

"The world, as a colourful knot of threads, has turned into a memory, and now you cannot be sure whether it was real." (Géza Ottlik, Hungarian writer)
If this is something some people would do, would it be cheaper and make more sense to just send the pieces of floss (1" or so) to the people who want the color cards? The group could compare what colors they have and then send the pieces to the others. Maybe taping them to a notecard (index card) labeled. Just a thought.
