Re: Podolyanka's WIPs
Yes, but I wont see that- they are a birthday present, and under a long-time agreement, my friends have their presents framed at their own cost and time. It was their idea and now it is a tradition- I give the picture in a nice envelope and then they send me a photo of the framed picture. Like this:

Re: Podolyanka's WIPs
I have often looked at that Victorian Christmas design - it is beautifully stitching Lyudmilla. As for the autumn one it is outstanding and such wonderful strong colours too. Beautiful work as always and I love the idea of the recipients getting their own framing done - easier on postage and finances.

Re: Podolyanka's WIPs
All your stitching is so varied and beautifully executed. Your friends are very lucky (and what a good arrangement about framing -- no guesswork!) I love the map, too. There are various maps of the UK or its component parts that are available, but I've never seen a Scottish one that was exclusively tartans of various sorts assigned to specific areas, which would be analogous to your patterns. Your map with these designs is a very beautiful and powerful, too. I know that Yvette Stanton has published a book on Ukrainian drawn thread embroidery (merezhka?), and at one time there seem to have been several good publications with examples of the lovely designs you have used on your map. The author of one of these books rejoiced in the surname of Ruryk, so perhaps she was descended from the ancient kings! A new book on Ukrainian embroidery patters might not go amiss... there's a project for you...?

I think that may be the one I have, and which I got my ideas for Orpheus and the other two from.Serinde wrote:I know that Yvette Stanton has published a book on Ukrainian drawn thread embroidery

Re: Podolyanka's WIPs
Thank you all for your kind words about my works.
Just to be fair- the map of patterns is not mine, it was on the internet, and unlike many other similar maps, it is more simple and clearly shows the main differences between patterns.
Yes, you are right- that drawn thread embroidery is called merezhka. I know only a very simple merezhka and use it to edge my tablecloths, towels(rushnyks) or tablerunners.

Re: Podolyanka's WIPs
Thank you, Carole. If I had not been giving away my cross stitches, I would have now more than 100 full size tablecloths - some had more stitching than spare space on them. And a few dozens of large pictures, let alone smaller things like tablerunners or napkins.

Beautiful projects and finishes, plus what a nice arrangement with your friends, that makes it much easier.

Re: Podolyanka's WIPs
Your stitchings are all so beautiful! It would be nice to have someone who would frame my pieces. I do not get through them quickly because I have several hobbies, but I certainly cannot keep them all either. I am looking forward to more of your updates.

OMG they are just beautiful works you have done. I can see why your favourite is the Victorian Christmas but they at all very well stitched. A good idea to let your friends frame them as & when they want to. Thanks for sharing.

Just off the needle.
1. Easter towel for my hairdresser

2. A birthday card. The fabric is spotless, it is the fault of the camera in my phone or a shade.
