Megan, I'm glad you liked all your Stashmas bits and pieces. I took the 'I'm a beginner' bit seriously! Blackwork is such a lovely technique, and I thought you'd enjoy using the cotton a broder, which is really lovely to use. I'd recommend Blackwork Journey website as a good starting place with all her wonderful freebies. And you'll find Mabel will hold your metaphorical hand through the little hardanger kit. Merry Stashmas!

Lovely gifts everyone! I can't see Kristy's, but if you have some Cirrus Creations, then you're in luck, I love my goodies from Niki.

Great gifts. I especially love the Gold Collection peace bird. Oh, and maybe the maple sugar candy.

Thank all of you for sending gifts, posting what your received, and taking part in Stashmas 2017. Like Carole, I hope for more people next year, but this year was totally fun. I think everyone sent wonderful, generous gifts that are treasured by those who received them.
There's nothing quite as special as a gift exchange between friends who all share the same interest. It means we can all thoroughly enjoy and appreciate the excitement when each one opens her gifts.
And a special thanks to Carole for letting me be involved on the front end this year. It was fun.

I made the Christmas goose from my stashmas gift!
I'm going to finish it to make it into a tree ornament. The beads were a lot of fun to work with. I like that you don't have to change thread out every time you need a new color; seemed to go faster than something small like this usually does.

It went well overall, though I need to work on getting the tension right. Some of the first or last beads in a run are too loose; it's not too noticeable though. Because of that I think I'm going to paint a thin layer of glue on the back. I'm going to be gifting it and I don't want the recipient to worry about it falling apart. Would you add a piece of fabric to the back? I kept it pretty neat, but I think it would look more finished with something on the back. Maybe brown paper would even look nice?

Your goose is adorable! I usually just use a thin layer of glue and felt to back my ornaments.

A bit of felt might be nice -- either self-adhesive, or use glue -- and then you can either tuck a loop for a hanger between the perforated paper and the felt if it's to be an ornament, or stitch on the pin for the brooch. Glad you like it, and it's now something new you've accomplished!
