moved OK
We're settling in, bit of a hold up moving day, monies slow going through. Had extra long lunch break until we heard all OK. Had arranged with removers to stop for lunch at a small service area we know from holiday times. Big enough for a few lorries as well as cars to stop there. A lovely tourist board shop, very tempting to buy pretty gifts; they have large selection of Welsh & English tourists brochures as it is on border twix the 2. Also a Burger King plus small convenience store. Once monies cleared we escorted removal van to our new abode as we'd heard occasionally sat nav takes lorries down narrow lanes only suitable for cars or farm vehicles one at a time.
Glad to be on line again & am going to sort out an easy stitch before I start doing Wisteria Cottage for my grt aunt. Will be on regular in a while, Still a few bits & pieces to sort out.

Phew! Glad everything came through and you made it there. Great idea to have something simple to pick up with all the fuss of moving.

Re: moved OK
The world looks so much lovlier in the sun. It's why we prefer to house hunt in the rain or drizzle. If the place looks good then, it'll be better in the sun. But not vice versa.
Glad everything went OK in the end. Solicitors always try to make it look as if they're earning their money by 'finding' last minute snags, and in a longish chain that can cause frustration on moving day. I'll never, ever, make the mistake of moving myself again, it nearly killed us 14 years ago from the brutal effort of moving that much stuff onto and out of two vans.
Regards
Richard.

Re: moved OK
thanks all. Can understand how hard it was to move yourself RichardandTracey. It's the banks who hold up monies on completion days. If one of them has a hiccup while clearing the Bankers Drafts or whatever they use these days of electronics, it reverberates down the chain. The longer the chain the more monies have to be cleared.
I know two cases where people were outside their new homes with their furniture removers until 4pm or just gone, before all was done, that was because a Bank had technical problems getting monies through each time. Nail biting experiences so say the least. All we well in the end but such fraught transactions - that's why I remember them.

Re: moved OK
The only time that I moved that wasn't a totally awful experience was the move from my parent's home to my first apartment. I didn't have anything much to move plus it was exciting. When we moved into this house almost 25 years ago, my DH announced that this was his last move and it was. We told the kids that packing and moving this house will be their problem and I mean it. That being said, I am glad your move went fairly smoothly (once the bank got its act together) and it is over and you are settling in. Looking forward to your updates!

Re: moved OK
Thanks Carole. Can understand your excitement when moving into your first apartment, always a wonderful time in a person's life. Also can understand why your DH doesn't want to move again.. It is classed as one of the most stressful times in people's lives I seem to remember.
Not done much x-stitching, just a little a night but will put up photo when I can. Glad I decided to do something easy before making grt aunts cottage picture. May do a 2nd one to really get into the stride again. Don't want to mess it up through being over eager. Have one in mind & once that is done along with my current work, would be able to relax & get back to normality again

Re: moved OK
OMG Wendy what a headache for you & your DH. House deeds are very important but I read on your 'Home' post you have a letter saying your father owns the house so that is a good thing. Fancy finding that in the attic after all these years but a very good thing you did find it. Can't imagine what problems you are against as thankfully I've not had to do what you are. Also harder as you live overseas., well only the English Channel but you know what I mean. Travelling country to country & back makes it even harder. BTW Found Miss Haversham in the attic yet? Not meaning to be cruel saying that, just trying to make things a bit lighter even if you only give a wry smile.
You will be having a big celebration not doubt when all is finally completed. Probably hear the cheer wherever we live
Thank you for good wishes in our new home. Neighbours friendly & we can ask anything we don't know. Local shopkeepers also pleasant. One keep sa8ng 'There you are my lovely@ cant help but smile when she says that. Have been told of several very pretty out of the way places to visit so can do that over the next few weeks. After the May school holidays as roads get busy with tourists, fancy me saying that me & DH were tourists once upon a time, Came up here several years for great breaks.
PS Only thing about living in the countryside is the pollen gives us sore eyes. Will be worth it once we get used to using eye drops more frequently. Much better than car fumes in towns though, by far!
