Thanks Girls.

Sad to say that the Mortgage company that he used no longer exists and the last firm of solicitors he used had researched their archives without success! I have sent the letter I found alluding to Deeds to the solicitor who is handling the the house sale and she is 'on the case'. She says that there are ways around this and she'd recently had a case where there had been a house fire and deeds were lost.
If you could see what is in the house then you would throw up your hands in horror!! There are magazines and papers dated from Before he bought the present house. There are empty boxes, boxes filled with old shopping receipts and payslips from before he bought the house. Everything is heaped up waist high.  LP's stacked amongst woodworking tools....I could go on but ......!! :tantrum:

I did find his saxophone and banjo but not the clarinet. They were in the eaves of the house amongst yet More Rubbish.

As I've said I have written to All the Financial institutions and nothing has been logged.

Fair enough. If the solicitor can find them or make up for the shortfall, she'll have earned her fee.

I wish it was possible to organise a CSF cleaning brigade -- I'd certainly help (I'm fearless with gloves and a pinney!) -- but as that's unlikely, all I can do is organise your favourite tipple behind the bar and as much of any treat of any sort you care to name. Courage!
