Floss Cones!

Post by Allyn »

I just got an email from DMC announcing that 22 of their colors are available on floss cones. Each cones holds 2,279 yards of 6-strand floss.

So, now for the funny part. I read the email and gasped and probably muttered something like "Oh that's wonderful" or something else equally breathless with amazement under my breath several times. My husband asked me what was up. Did we win the lottery? Did a long-lost relative die and leave me money? I explained to him 1) what DMC is 2) what a floss cone is 3) how much a floss cone holds versus a skein. He looked at me like I lost my mind. Maybe I have, but when I have to buy skeins in double-digit numbers of a color for a single project, I am happy to get that color in a cone. Especially when you start adding crafty stuff like tassel-making and such as that.

You folks will understand. :)

Oh yes, we understand perfectly well. It is like buying 5 metres in one piece of Zweigart 14 count white Aida with pearl thread or a box of those new DMC threads or the 9th DMC storage box for threads (because the 8 you have are so full it is difficult to take out a bobin). A stitcher's happiness cen be understood to the full only by other stitchers, right?

Actually, it does change. It goes from the blank stare of hope (hoping that it'll be something meaningful to him) to the "Oh good grief" sag and almost-an-eye-roll. :D
