Blue Moon Moose | Update 17/07/18

Post by Ciors »

I apologise if these images are too big!

Here's the chart I'm working from for the Blue Moon Moose. I bought it years ago from Flumpkins X Stitchers on eBay and now that I've gotten back into cross stitch, he's the only chart I have that isn't a HAED... He's being worked on on 18 count white Aida (just DMC stuff from HobbyCraft) and is using Anchor threads. Lots and lots of blue! At least I've almost finished page 1 during the week I've been working on him. Bottom middle and right is where the fun begins!

Wow that is an awesome amount of stitching done in the week and it is a fabulous design. I look forward to seeing it grow over the coming months. :)

Totally Blue! I love that picture. I expect you'll want to stitch in Red or Green after this...anything but BLUE!!!

Thank you for all the lovely words! I'm powering through all the blues by reminding myself that it'll look great when it's all done - loving it so far though!

Should look good when done. Bet you'll be sick to the back teeth of blue by the time you're done!

Good start, it's always nice to devote time to a fresh project.

Regards

Richard.

I'm finally stitching more than just blues! Although now I have to wait for the mail as my local HobbyCraft doesn't have a full collection of either Anchor or DMC but at least I've now started other colours. Slowly trundling through confetti towards the end of page 1!

Good afternoon all. I've been addicted to stitching this but it's come with it's fair share of frustrations - ie confetti. However I'm now a page and a half (almost) completed!

I've discovered that the way I was working - 20 stitch rows, staggered - wasn't really working for me so I tried cross country. Two words - hate it! The three long prongs of his antler were all confetti and all cross country... So I switched it up again once I'd finished page one. I'm now working in 10 stitch columns which I think is working the best for me. It's like I'm stitching so much faster now.

Glad you've found a method that works for you! The confetti may be frustrating but it is definitely giving lots of detail.

A great update on this interesting design. Ahhh confetti, just view it as good practice for the HAED's when you get to them :)

Exactly, lots of detail and lots of practice for HAED's. I've got 5 HAED's on my to-do list (4 Storykeeps and 1 regular) but I think I'll hold off on those till I get Blue Moon Moose and Nightmare Before Christmas finished.

I work my HAEDs in much the same way: 10x10 squares down the page. Although I normally prefer cross-country, I would be in a total mess and muddle if I tried that with a HAED.

I've never tried (or really been tempted by ) a HAED! So many colours/confetti!! But I do like to see what others achieve. :D

I can now see the beginnings of an antler. Nice to get away from constant Blue!!

Excellent progress, well done! :applesauce:

Wow, you made a lot of progress since the last update! :applesauce: Lovely stitching too.
All these threads at the side! I am not so adventurous, I would get lost with them all, I think.

Thanks everyone! Not much more blue to go on this page - there's the beginnings of the moon coming up.

Hélène, the threads at the right hand side are just waste threads so I don't have to worry about them till I need to snip them off. :)

What a great update. You are making tremendous progress on this one.

Like WendyWombat I have never been tempted by HAED but I really admire those who do stitch them.

The confetti is a nuisance but is so worth it, the antlers are looking great.
