Or is it my enemy in disguise???

Post by Sahari »

So now that I have super seeing powers, I'm horrified at what I'm seeing , and it's messing with my usual stitching-induced peace and happiness...

Once I was able to really see how 'tunneling' my thread ends affects the tension on top, I stopped doing that and started just leaving a tail to cover up (both beginning and ending a thread). Well, now the top stitches are looking all uniform and wonderful, but this technique has given rise to entanglement issues :liontamper: on the back and I find myself checking the backside with every stitch I bring up which is a major drag... Maybe I'm leaving the tails too long? :thinks:

I use away knots a lot. No tunnels but no tangles, either... Also no turning over the work every other stitch! :thinks:

I use an 'away knot without the knot', so just a tail of a centimetre or so on the front and snip it off when it's covered on the back. It saves time not tying all those knots. (I'm not very good at tying knots!)

I also frequently use away knots (or away not knots).

Ha! like that away not-knot. I just roll the thread around my finger and pull it down to make a knot. But it isn't terribly stable... does the trick for the time needed, tho, which is what's important.

Away, or Waste Knots. What a great idea and I can't believe I didn't think of that on my own... I was too busy thinking of a way to get the thread to 'stick' w/ a non-bleed-through sticky substance.... LOL

Thanks guys. I love this place. :balloons:
