Well here he is at last!! I put him away after some problems with him and sort of lost heart. I have stitched him on 28 count Evenweave in antique white rather than the 'chunky' 14 count Aida. I think that was why I had problems counting on all that Blackwork on the 'framing'
THEN our 'very own Hare' reappeared in our field and I pulled the kit out of the UFO Box!
Thank you! I was leaping as High as a March Hare when I put the last stitch in place!! The 'Reflecta Gold' doesn't show up in the photo but it really lifts the design. I had to use really short lengths of it as it frayed HORRIBLY!!
The Frame? Well I will take it to a framer in the UK as he did a fantastic (but pricey) job on a set of Beach Huts by Mary Hickmott. It will have dark green and cream mount I think in a simple light wood frame....will put up the framed pic when done.
A fantastic finish - the blackwork "frame" around him gives a special touch to the whole project. I think even in a simple wooden frame it would look perfectly completed. Very well done.
Great piece finished Wendy. Really lovely & the stitched frame round the edges makes it different & also adds to the appeal. Well done on finishing this lovely hare. So glad your own hare turned up as well.
Look forward to seeing this framed. Sounds like you've got lovely colours in mind.
Wendy I love him, you've stitched him beautifully, I understand the issues with the blackwork frame, I have the Owl ( and not sure about doing the moon ), Squirrel and Hare although mine is already called Herbert. It's the combination of cross stitch and blackworj that appeals to me.
Your thoughts on framing sound pretty perfect to me.

Oh and glad to know the real life hare is back in your garden
for the reappearance of your own hare - he certainly did help you finish this lovely one.
I agree, a simple frame is all it needs and then you can enjoy your wonderful stitching. WELL DONE ON A GREAT FINISH

So glad that your own hare spurred you on to finish
A beautiful finish. The hare is wonderfully stitched, as well as all the blackwork
