:applesauce: :applesauce: Photos change for all kinds of reasons. But the tablecloth looks lovely. Will be too pretty to put any food on it. A wall hanging to admire it makes more sense to me.

Thank you, ladies, for your kind words. You would be surprised if you knew how much your supportive words mean. As for eating on a cross stitched tablecloth... Well, there are Christmas, Easter, Birthday, Special Occasion, etc tablecloths, they are seldom used. There are every day tablecloths- these are usually washed every week. Somehow nobody turns over a cuppa, but I. Two tablecloths suffered from my coffee, but Daughter knows how to remove stains properly.

In my home, knowing myself better, I have a transparent plastic "tablecloth" on top of the stitched Australian alphabet(with flowers and animals) or Australian birds tablecloth.

Thank you, Lulu. All the beauty is due to designers' hard work.

The Worcester-Staffordshire Tablecloth is going to be amazing. I look forward to seeing the canal boats.

And cats on a lead... Why not? Is it any more ridiculous than putting a child on a lead? Probably not.
But I do see that children on a lead might seem nuts.

Regards,

Richard.

Lyudmila, how wonderful to have your beautiful tablecloths in sight everyday. You are right, they are for using, not for keeping in the wardrobe.
It would lift my spirit to see such beautiful stitching, while having my meals.

No, Lyudmila, not only the designer. The way it is stitched makes all the difference. Your ducks and water lilies are perfect. Beautiful work! :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

Honestly speaking, I myself am looking forward to stitching the canal boats, lock keeper's houses, inns, churches, more canal boats(locally known as barges, by the way). I stitched a similar tablecloth 10 years ago themed "Britain". Here it is just for you to see what it is about.Image

At that time I did not have enough charts to close the peremetre. The "Canal" tablecloth will, hopefully, be more completed.

Thank you again for your kind supportive words. There are minutes when I think I am too old for such a huge project. But now that I have told you all about it, I simply have to continue, right?

Today I have sorted out the threads for the first canal boat and the bridge by Maria Diaz, "Drifting Dreams". My greatest concern so far is that the scale may differ from picture to picture. I do count the stitches, and choosing more or less the same size. But on the fabric it all may look different. Interestingsly, the designer says she once lived in a canal-side cottage. So no wonder the picture is so detailed. I also noticed she calles the tow path the canal path. Another new word for me. Poor foreigner lives and learns.
Wish me good luck with all the backstitch the designer adores and I hate. Will backstitch as I go, otherwise it will drive me crazy.

As you say Lydmila, the fact she would see canal boats frequently has aided her designing. A very wise idea to do the back stitching as you go as it possibly end up in the dark for a long time before getting finished. :)

It took me two days to make the boat look like a boat, well, more or less.

:applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce: beautiful. Those ducks are hooded mergansers. We have a small group that winters in the creek behind my house. They are so much fun to,watch. The males wither brilliant white hoods are magnificent. You are doing a beautiful job.
