A very long 36 hrs.

Post by mauveme »

Yesterday my brother was admitted to the hospital. He had a stroke. They operated on him to unblock his clogged arteries , they weren’t able to get them all so there was the likely hood of controlled strokes. Later that evening the doctors were very surprised to find that tho arteries had unclogged themselves. After he woke up he could recognize everyone and speak simple phrases. Today he is eating and has mobility in arms and legs. He is having speech problems which is frustrating him. My nephew is giving me updates and says that he isn’t out of the woods yet and has a long way to go, which I figured. It’s very hard not being there and be able to see for him myself. If it was any other time of the year but winter l would go up for a while. However Ottawa does get nasty winters and there are warnings of ice storms set it hit tonight and tomorrow from Just past Toronto to Montreal. Wouldn’t even fly with that mess going on. I hate waiting for news. The one good thing is that his wife is a GP and was able to spot the problem right away. So here I sit twiddling my thumbs not able to concentrate on anything. He is the only immediate family l have left, and he is 6 yrs younger than me. (He is 63). Wish him well please?

Sending lots of thoughts and prayers for you and your family. It is so hard when you can’t be right there with them and have to rely on reports. Sounds like he is a fighter and already taking steps towards recovery.

Dear Linda my heart goes out to you through this oh so difficult time. I will certainly add Him into my prayer list as well as yourself and the wider family. It is hard to have to sit and be so far away so please feel free to vent on here any time, s you know there is always someone around.

Have you got any fairly plain 'automatic' knitting that you could do which would help you cope with these oh so difficult days.
Sending    :choc: your way

Dear Linda, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your Brother too. And yes, Sally is right- "automatic" knitting does help in such cases. Wishing your Brother speedy recovery.

I will keep him firmly in my prayers too, Linda
I remember the beautiful sweater you knitted him. May be, you could start another one for him to be warm as he will be recovering over winter.
Every stitch will be like a little prayer for his well being.

Thanks every one, it helps reading your kind messages and I did dig out a sweater I started last month, have the back done and a start on the front too. Knitting him another lighter sweater is a great idea. Will start looking for a pattern. Hopefully I will get more news later on today.

My nephew gave me an update. Paul is laughing walking eating an even played bridge with him. Seems like he is on the mend. Fingers crossed.
