Well the start of another year and with it comes a myriad of projects to keep me out of mischief - maybe.
As most of you know my focus this year is on the 18th birthday present for my beautiful grand daughter who lives across the other side of Australia in the beautiful city of Perth. I have until the 3rd October to get this completed, framed and in my suitcase by 5th October.
It's Always Tea Time by Merejlka. It is round about 14,000 stitches - I've not yet done a proper count There are 37 colours!
Today I mounted the gridded fabric onto the rods and started a tiny bit just to get the feel of it and did just 12 stitches.
I have also done 2 or 3 cover kits from WOCS plus a couple of Christmasy motifs for my cards at the end of this year.

Sally, all I can say- with Merejka you will enjoy every and each stitch. Because their charts are so perfect that each stitch makes difference and none is random. Plus they have the 3D effect- their flowers, berries, animals, "stand up" under your hands. Happy stitching! And yes, this, and "It is Coffee o' Clock" are on my wish list too.
"It is always Tea time" is a delightful kit. Well done for making a start, Sally
I must say, the symbols on the chart look very clear.

I love this design and know that you will do perfectly beautiful stitching. Tea time with Squirrel is what I'd call it and I know your granddaughter is going to love it! Can't wait to see your progress updates!

Thank You all for your encouragement. I had bought this kit for myself because of the Squirrels in it plus I love my cuppa first thing in the morning. However it turns out that my grand-daughter loves squirrels too which is why she chose it.
I am hoping to get a bit done later today.

Maureen, yes the chart is easy to read - thank goodness and I want to do it but suddenly realised the date and need a special card asap for a friends birthday, so that is the priority at the moment. Oh well, maybe at the weekend I will have a quiet day to really begin this interesting one.

I sat down at my work table with the above mentioned half finished card motif and then thought, to heck with racing to finish this there must be a pretty card in my stash I can send my friend and yes there was so away went Mr Cosy Mouse and out came T T .
I have sdarted t the right hand edge - it is Mr Squirrels bushy tail top I am working on oh so slowly. It will take me a while to get into the 'swing' of Merejka's symbols etc but I will get there, especially once the weather begins to cool down in March. Til then one exists as best one can with either fans going or air con. Thankfully an onshore breeze is just kicking in and it is coming through my back windows but I won't attempt to sort out where I miscounted the last 5 stitches:(. There are already 4 shades of browns and at least another 3 or 4 to come but so far it has been OK.
Thanks for looking.

Sally, you have done very well for one stitching session. One can see it is a squirrell's tail. Merejka's charts do need getting used to them. I hate their habit to use some green and red symbols (in the case of Christmas Night they were exactly for opposite threads- green marks- for red and red- for green. Pure craziness) on a black and white chart. But their backstitch being shown on a separate chart makes life much easier.
Let's hear it for squirrels! You have made a great start Sally. I hope the breeze brings some relief. It's always more difficult to stitch when it's hot.
