Fluffy

Post by richardandtracy »

As a some of you may be aware, our black Norwegian Forest Cat 'Fluffy' has been unwell in the last week and a half.
Image
Tuesday last week, he had 160cc of fluid drained from his chest cavity. X-rays and ultrasound showed he had a very enlarged heart, and was showing the classic signs of HCM heart disease.

We tried to give him medication, but taking the tablets really stressed him. He initially recovered from his operation quite well, but started to go badly backwards from Tuesday this week.

We took him to the vet for his last visit yesterday evening, when he was put to sleep.
We buried him in the garden 30 minutes later under a lovely sunny spot near where he loved to lounge on the lawn.

We will miss him so very much that it's impossible to articulate.
Even the vet will miss him. Fluffy was such a gentle, loving cat that the vets rarely got to hear his heart on his annual check-up, he purred so loudly.

Regards,

Richard

   to you and your family. You know I know how you are feeling. As soon as I saw your subject, I knew that Fluffy had crossed the bridge. Laverne probably met him and they are now gossiping about us.

That is a lovely tribute - he will leave a gap in your lives, but what comforting memories you must have of him!

I am so sorry to read this Richard, my thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

Fluffy sounds like a beautiful cat inside and out and will now be with Gryff and Albert and other who have crossed the rainbow bridge, perhaps they will be having cat conversations saying do you remember the time we........ chased the Christmas decorations........ tried to catch the fish in the frozen pond..............sat on the box of food our human brought home etc. I would like to think these things you have shared with us brings you a small amount of comfort at this difficult time.

:grouphug: to you and your family.

Oh Richard!
I have tears in my eyes as I write this!
What a superb picture of him.

Although I didn't ever meet Fluffy, he will stay in our hearts forever. The :rainbow: bridge has seen a good few passing over it recently.
Thank you for sharing as I know how difficult that must have been for you and your family.

He will have met up now with Gryff and they will be purring loudly together. :kitty: :kitty:

Thank you all for your thoughts. It does help.

I did a moderate amount of gardening yesterday, now that Spring has sprung. I was certain on numerous occasions, he was there, at the corner of my eye, sitting, watching as he so often did. Work fascinated him, he could watch it all day. It was strange and very sad that he wasn't there when I looked straight at where I thought he was.

Our other three cats are very skittish, convinced (rightly) we've done something horrible to him. We tried to persuade them to sniff him before we buried him, but unlike when Gryff died, they didn't seem to get the message.

Regards,

Richard.

I thought just that too! Especially if you caught site of him out of the corner of your eye. You may do so for a while if you leave yourself open to him.
I still catch sight of our 'late' pets in just that way. We had a lovely German Shepherd called Sophie and for a long while after we had her put to sleep I could sense her, especially at the end of the day when she thought we'd stayed up too long then she'd make a low grumble saying 'bed-time'!
