Marie Therese Saint Aubin fans?

Post by Lucyscarlet »

Hey everyone, back after a long time!

Any fans of MTSA on here? I love her stuff and wondered if I’m alone? She never seems to be mentioned in magazines either.

How wonderful to have you back!   And now I have another rabbit hole to fall down into -- hadn't knowingly heard of MTAA, so off to explore.

Ha ha, we always need more...

Her designs are really impressionistic and beautiful. I’ve done a couple of roses and peonies, will get round to pics at some point. I’m working on foxgloves from her new book at the mo, called ‘merveilleuse nature.’ It’s on amazon, lots of her stuff is out of print though.

She has a blog, she sells some designs direct - there’s a list. Bit of a language barrier if you don’t speak French I guess, but I managed so anyone can!

I have two of her books, Cats and Nature. She stitches the merest outline and Voila! A Bird, a flower or a cat appears!

It's so clever as the eye takes in the detail and the brain fills in the gaps! :applesauce: :applesauce:

All is well, but her designs are for perfect eye-sight of both, the stitchers and those who look at stitched pieces.

Good light and a top-class magnifying set up definitely needed, that's for sure. Beautiful, though. Very French.
