Re: Quick daily posts
In all honesty, I am utterly unmoved by most of the kits available. They are often, usually, of twee cute things. Anathema. Added to which, I'm about 100,000 stitches from finishing my current projects.
Regards,
Richard.

Actually, that looks rather nice. But, I still have around 100,000 stitches to go.

It reminds me of Delft tiles!
When I was in my Teens my Dad used to go over to Amsterdam on business. He always brought me back a box of chocolates wrapped in the shape of Delft Tiles....in the box, depending on the size, was 1 or 2 miniature Tiles! I had quite a collection of them.
Sadly they are now lost....I had thought that I might have found them when we cleared out his house for sale but there was so much mess and clutter it was surprising that we found anything!

Re: Quick daily posts
Wendy, I know the chocolates you mean! I read that the designer of this kit did actually model it on Delft tiles.
My best memory of Delft tiles is when we visited (English) friends who temporarily lived in the house inThe Hague that had belonged to Mata Hari. There was a cellar which was rather difficult to get into, and cramped, but several of the walls were entirely covered in very old blue & white tiles

Re: Quick daily posts
Did about 30 stitches yesterday, in 15 colours. Currently doing the figure's right eye in my 'Luz' image, and there are 26 colours in the 10x10 square centered on her eye. The mat on the back of the fabric is getting quite thick in the local area.
Mabel,
That is quite a find in the cellar. Was it possible to get a date estimate on the tiles? Would have been fascinating to investigate.
Regards,
Richard

I'm astounded the tiles are still there!

Re: Quick daily posts
I don't think a lot of research had been done into the tiles, but this was 13 years ago. I have a feeling they had been fairly recently rediscovered when we were shown them.
My goodness Richard, that sounds challenging! Are you managing to pull the needle thorugh all right?
Quick work on the wing Serinde - are you finding laid work fairly speedy to do? It's definitely a very economical way of covering large parts of the fabric.
Didn't do much stitchingyesterday, but I finalised the teddy bear design for our grandson's romper suit. I made a few small changes to the teddy bear from the Anchor book and added wording around it. Today I hope to transfer it to the fabric although I haven't quite worked out yet how!

Re: Quick daily posts
Actually, I am. Knowing that this was going to be a very dense area, I moved the thread starts & finishes to a completed area, and kept the threads relatively slack, expecting things to tighten up as I added more colours. Seems to be working about how I expected. The threads are tightening up a little, but not excessively, which is just as well as I have over half the stitches to go in the eye.Mabel Figworthy wrote: Wed Apr 15, 2020 9:57 am ... Re: Quick daily posts
I finished a partial page as some of you saw. Since then I've got some reading in and more messing about with computers to get everything working like I want it. We've been having some very good weather which has helped a bit to ease the strain of confinement.
My wife's grandmother passed away last summer and her home has finally sold so we ran over to pick up some cement benches that were part of the landscaping. We're now incorporating them into our garden. The property was left fully furnished while listed for sale because she wanted everyone to see how great her house looked when properly decorated. It was a beautiful home to be sure.
So far I've been averaging going to work once per week and today was is it for this week. We had a problem with a batch of parts from a supplier and they found everything to be working fine when returned to them so I got them to ship me two examples and I spent the day figured it all out. Every week when I drive in to work I find more and more cars on the road. A month ago it was a ghost town, today it was like Sunday afternoon traffic. At this rate we'll be back to normal traffic in a month.

I came across these sites accidentally, but now watch them (especially the lady cardinal on her nest) every night.
The live webcams on bird feeders do help me to forget for a few minutes about the virus, fires around Kyiv, and other large and small problems.
So I will leave the links here if the moderators do not mind. Maybe someone will find them useful and interesting:

And if you are fond of mountains, rural life in the heart of nature and Chinese traditional food, cooking and crafts, there is such a video blogger as Liziqi-

Her videos are great for relaxation.
Moderators, please, feel free to delete the links if you find placing them here wrong. Thank you.

Re: Quick daily posts
Hope the air quality improves for you soon. I've seen reports that it's been getting worse due to those fires. Not nice at all.
Thinking of you,

I hope that the fires get under control soon and that the smog dissipates soon also. Glad you could air out your flat and that you have found lovely websites to visit to get away from the craziness of today's world. This is the perfect place to post those links. I love watching birds, especially birds on nests. A pair of house finches nests in a freezer container nailed to the ceiling of the small entrance to my house. Over the years we've had wrens, and sparrows and for the last two years the finches nesting there. They fledged a few weeks ago and I miss them. Rosey does do. She had great fun watching through the window as the parents scolded her.

Re: Quick daily posts
Yesterday we made our first sortie to the Big Supermarket in about 5 weeks. Masks and gloves on and 50 minutes later a Very Full trolley of 'essentials'.
It was very well organised which is more than we can say for the one in our village.
Today!! Well woke to Drizzle and painting the Inner Hallway is planned....
But I did get a nice surprise in the Post Box!
My book had arrived!
Maybe the hallway can wait?
