Lots of people seem to stop glasses steaming up by wearing their masks under their noses. Knickers. That's the analogy that comes to mind.
Our best weather was, as ever, in the (non-existent) "exam season" (obviously various minor gods didn't get the memo, but the rest of us are grateful). Easing of lockdown restrictions coincided with what would have been the end of the school term. Therefore, normal Scottish summer weather is once more in evidence: rain, cold and wind. (Actually, the wind is a bonus we could do without.)
I also hope the housing market turns around soon for you, Wendy. And I hope that the new freedoms y'all are enjoying with the lifting of some of the restrictions doesn't result in the kind of increased numbers we are having. Some days when I'm at the grocery store I see nearly everyone wearing masks and think that the upsurge here is making people sensible, but then I see pictures of the beaches or other gatherings and think that everyone has lost their senses. If I'm repeating myself, I apologize. Don't remember who I've told and who I haven't. My grandson tested positive after going on a birthday golfing weekend with friends a few weeks ago (no masks & no social distancing I'm sure). One of the boys tested positive a few days after returning, so my grandson got tested when he developed a sore throat and lost sense of taste and smell. Hopefully, he will continue with the lighter symptoms he is experiencing. The one positive thing is that it did his brother to take precautions more seriously. This continues to be worrisome.
On a lighter note, I was able to see the play "Hamilton" last night on the Disney+ streaming channel and it is absolutely beautiful. I love the music and the originality of how it is performed. I never thought I would be able to see the original cast perform so it was a real treat for me to watch the play of the American Revolution on our Independence Day.

I have a way of stopping my glasses steaming up....I wear them on top of my head!!
Also the weather in Scotland must think that we are there having our month's holiday in The Borders ...WRONG!! We are still in France!
I sewed an Austin Seven double tab washer bent into shape by DH (not around my nose, I'm glad to report ) into my mask and that has proved very effective at keeping my glasses from steaming up!
In how many layers is the fabric folded?
With the temp. up to 32 C and the forecast - +40 C for this next week, my glasses do not care the mask or no mask. The problem is when it is cold outside and I go indoors. I dont think the Austin will help in cold weather. The air you breathe out will go through the mask anyway and touch the glasses.
The tab washer fits very closely around the bridge of my nose, Lyudmila, so my breath has to find some other way out! It's a two-layer mask, by the way.
On Sunday we had our first visitor to our garden for months.
She came & chatted to Tracy for 3 and a half hours.
And our traitor cat showed his true colours. Never before has Ozzie done anything other than go into a blind panic when he's seen someone in our garden. This time.. This time... was different. This time, he saw the new person sitting in the garden and trotted over, all alert and perky. He trotted up to Elizabeth (our visitor) who was sitting on a deck chair under the gazebo in the farthest corner from Tracy, and headbutted her leg then stood on his hind legs and rubbed his head on her palm to indicate what he wanted. After 10 minutes of having his ears rubbed he settled down, doglike, at her feet and stayed there for 90 minutes. Traitor.
Elizabeth is a dog-lover and has never really come across cats before. This showed when Rooster came along to be near, and Elizabeth asked how we told the difference between our two ginger & white Maine Coons. Well, as anyone should know, you tell the difference by using your eyes and looking. Simples.
Was nice to see someone other than work colleagues for once.

Glad you had an enjoyable visit!
I agree! Seems to me though, that whenever a dog person or an "I don't like cats because they are........."person, my cats always pick that person to be the one they cozy up too. Not sure if it is to let them know that cats are adorable and cozy and sweet or if it is to antagonize that person for being so inept as to not recognize the true superiority of felines.

I have a photo of my old Albert sitting on my late Mother's lap. She didn't much like cats, and was showing it. He had his ears back & was tracking every move of her's. He obviously was not happy, but was going to sit on her regardless to prove a point. He obviously knew she didn't like cats much, but as she smelt of dog, she had to be subdued.
I think there is also a bit of body language 'failure in translation'. A cat, when it's happy closes its eyes in pleasure. A human who doesn't know cat body language squints a bit in disgust when they see something they don't like. The cat sees this expression as one where the human is showing pleasure when they see the cat. And that's taken as a welcoming sign.
I fear we've had cats too long and possibly pandered to them too much. My eldest daughter closes her eyes in pleasure and my youngest hisses when she sees something that she doesn't like.

Simples, indeed.

That’s kinda funny Richard. We went for a distancing visit with our youngest son and his partner. They allowed one of their cats out, but it saw us and bee lined back to the door. They carried it to farthest corner of the yard, it still headed straight back to the door. And this is the socially friendly cat. Lol
My doctor put me on a prescription today. When I went to get it filled the pharmacist told me, take one pill twice a day, immediately after eating. I told him I was put on a liquid diet.
After a moment of silence he said, “you are going to be in pain. You might be sick. Good luck.”
After a moment of silence I said, “makes sense.....it’s 2020”

You may well be right.

When Elder Son was tiny (six weeks!) we found ourselves with a female kitten of about the same age (Tarot, who was a polydactyl) and they totally bonded. Of course the cat was infinitely more sophisticated than the baby! But one of his first discernible noises was a purr, and later he would crawl across the floor and they would mark each other.

Ooft. Should go back to doctor and find something else you can take with the liquid diet he (presumably) recommended! If the medication isn't going to stay down, it's not doing you a lot of good.
Roland, what Serinde said. Your doctor ought to suit the medication to your circumstances, not just prescribe the standard medication even if it is no good for you. I hope they will find something more suitable and helpful for you!
Serinde, all the more a pity that cats don't live as long as we do - when they'd bonded that much, to have to say goodbye when your son was in his teens or even earlier must have been hard!
Of course Elder Son and the Kitten could understand each other Purrfectly!!
I wonder how many parents have been obliged to find an Exact Replicar of a beloved pet when the said pet goes over the Rainbow Bridge before it's time?

I agree. Roland, especially important for you to contact your doctor to see what he can do about your situation.
