For those of you struggling to keep your threads tidy and accessible, this system -- by Vonna from The Twisted Stitcher -- might be your solution. Perhaps once I retire and throw away ALL THE PAPERWORK in my filing cabinet, I might convert it to this use... would free up an entire bookshelf full of little boxes...
I know you are a great bobbinator (so am I), but this system, once up and operating, saves getting kinks in the more fragile threads. At the moment I store a lot of non-DMC/Anchor thread in long clear plastic "lock" boxes so that they can lie flat. It works, but it does take up shelf space.
All my wools and my #3 and #5 perle cottons are kept flat. The wools in those nifty little towers of drawers which sit on my two large towers of drawers so not a much of problem space-wise. In fact I'd struggle to find room for a filing cabinet into which to decant them! But it's always good to have another option up your sleeve.
