Posted/posting pictures

Post by fccs »

Ugh...it looks like my photo service, Fototime, is either gone for good or is having major issues. I can’t access the site (server not responding) and ALL (!!!) my posted pictures on the forum seem to be gone. From what I’ve been able to read online, this has been going on for several days now.

So, what does everyone use to share pics here? I’ve clicked on some that take me to a photo sharing service, always with ads and often with rather risqué pics in the ads. I don’t want that. I just want to show you all what I’ve been stitching. I’m sad.

That happened to a lot of us when Photobucket stopped free service. I use Postimages When I revised the thread on Posting Pictures on the Forum that is the site I used as an example. To be honest, I'm sure there must be ads sometimes but I must ignore them. I don't remember them being intrusive or risqué, but seems to me a lot of these sites advertise for weight loss products and have before and after photos. I'm sorry that your photos are gone. You have done some of the best designs ever and I will miss seeing them when you do updates. I think its awful that you didn't have any warning that this was coming. :tantrum:

Photosuckit has a lot to answer for :tantrum: I am Admin on another Forum and we made the decision to co-host our own photo hosting area with our forum software on the same server for the members to use after the Photosuckit muck up.

I am using that area to store my cross stitch pictures, I am hoping that the "owner" of the server does not mind - I do sometimes post pictures of my cross stitch over there as well and the boys make appreciative comments

I created an account with postimages and added a photo to one of my posts. it came through as a thumbnail hyperlink to the postimages site. I’ve seen many posts here with larger photos that don’t link somewhere else. Does anyone know how to do that?

Okay, after reading Carole’s post and Lyudmila’s thorough instructions, here goes. If this works, it’s totally not stitch related...just a snowy tree.

To stop me feeling guilty I have created a post images account:

And put a couple of pictures of my older cross stitch there.

Debby, I'm glad that you are able to post photos again. Lyudmila, please take a peek at the directions I wrote for using Postimage. I think it is about how to add a thumbnail, but if you want to add the directions you gave Debby how to post a full size photo, please feel free to add a post.

And if anyone uses a different website and would like to add that to the thread about posting pictures, please do. The more options everyone has the better.

and Jo, that is an absolutely beautiful piece of stitching :applesauce:

Thank you both for your kind comments on my Historic Sampler piece.

I did wonder if I should post pictures of my previous work somewhere in case people were interested. Many are not yet framed as I plan to get them "framed as sets" and each have a couple more to do to complete the set

Yes, please do create a thread for your past stitching. If its anything this one, we'll all be drooling over it.
