Cats love cows milk, but it has, let's just say, deleterious effects upon their persons. Clearly the staff deals with that.

Our Black Norwegian Forest Cat 'Fluffy' (http://www.chestnutpens.co.uk/misc/fluffy.html) also always denied that he'd done anything even with drops of milk dripping off his face. Silly puss.

Richard.

A friend sent me this link to a page of 40 people showing off their embroidery projects because she knows I love needlework. Some of them are so good I'm not sure they make me smile or feel discouraged! But then I saw the "Right There" embroidery (#38) and realised technical excellence isn't the be all and end all - and I smiled.

Absolutely incredible, Mabel.

And one of my daughters did fit right there. With room to spare.

Both the boys, too.

And who knew there was an embroidery thread (or whatever it's called) on Reddit! I mean. Reddit?!

Home-made no-churn ice cream with lemon curd running through it (not as much as I intended as the jar was less full than I thought...) - definitely makes me smile :-)

:D :D :D Some of that ice cream while looking at the contorted cats brings lots of smiles and laughs. Took time to look at 12 Cats that may or may not secretly be Aliens after looking at the Feng Shui cats.

They are lovely, Carole.
And Mabel, I envy you, I have never dared try to make ice cream.

Richard, neither have I. It was the promise of no need for churning that made me try this, and I was very pleased that it worked.

If you want to have a go :-) there are various very similar recipes, but the one I used makes a little over 1.5 litres (about 2 and 3/4 pints). In a big bowl (bigger than you think you'll need - I didn't and got liberally splattered with cream drops) mix 600ml whipping cream and one tin condensed milk (the sweet stuff) plus 2 tsp vanilla extract (more if you want it really vanilla-y) and a pinch of salt, and if you like 2 tbsp liqueur (apparently the alcohol helps with the texture). Another recipe which I haven't tried yet has 500ml cream and 150g full-fat cream cheese instead of the 600ml cream; I'll let you know if there's any difference when I make the next batch!

Anyway, using an electric whisk (you can do it by hand but it takes much longer) whisk until you get soft peaks (about 5 or 6 minutes). Spoon it into a freezer-proof container and layer it with a flavouring if you like, I used lemon curd but you could use salted caramel or seedless raspberry jam or whatever! Freeze for 5 to 6 hours and enjoy :icecream:

Hmm. Sounds nice. I may get some extras next time we go shopping. That'll be 7th August, we get the shopping every 2 weeks & completely fill our tiny car with 8 adult-weeks and 6 cat-weeks of food. With the food in the car, there is only space in the front seats for people, and it takes 2 trollies. But it means one weekend is completely free.

Feeling buoyant!
Just discovered that the village where we shall be living from September has a CRAFT GROUP!! :whoop: :whoop: :whoop:
A friend sent us the village news sheet about making poppies to place on the memorial for Rememberance Day. I called one of the organisers and introduced myself. She will pass on some patterns for me.
Really looking forward to being part of a craft group again
This will kick my stitching bug back into action again.
