As I'm putting all the kits together for the 6-week course I'll be teaching later this year (Covid permitting ) one of the things that needs doing is sticking the necessary needles into scraps of calico. I usually include them in the kits, but as these students will be doing five projects over the six-week period I thought it would be nicer and more convenient for them to have a slightly more durable solution which keeps all the needles in one place (so they can lose them all at once ).
Years ago I came across an quick and simple needle book that someone had devised because she liked keeping one with each project, and I used that idea for the small Hardanger kits - but when I cut the patterned card for those there is always a narrower strip left, and I use those for smaller needle books which are dotted around the house andin my various project boxes. I had plenty of those strips left, plus some left-over white felt (I usually try to colour-match the felt to the card but that isn't essential) so I made these ten little needle books. I think they're quite sweet . These are all the needles they will need apart from the size 22 petite tapestry needle which hadn't been added yet when I took the picture.
Much prettier than the little packs that new needles come in. And adds a little extra special touch to the packages you provide. And if I were attending I would hope that you have extra books available because I am sure I'd be the student who lost all her book and therefore all the needles at one time.
