Re: 2022 St Cross Stitchers Clinic & Hospital
Oh no!
I sincerely hope you and Mr. Serinde feel better soon, and hope the symptoms are not too severe. As Carole suggested can you get the anti-virals? I hope so.
Dr.Tiny Cat will be patrolling regularly, and the ward has plenty of mixtures to soothe throats and relieve any aches and pains. The bedding is freshly laundered and all pillows plumped.
The trolley will be round soon with plenty of books and I believe there may be a volume of The Fellowship of the Ring reserved for you.

Serinde, do take care. Must admit I still get the jitters about it, but that's a hangover from pre-vaccine days when too many people we knew succumbed and our list of friends has too many gaps.
You will both be in my thoughts until you're better.
All the best
Richard.

Re: 2022 St Cross Stitchers Clinic & Hospital
Can I have a quick check-up? Had an eye scare nearly two weeks ago with flashes and new floaters (back at the hospital this coming Monday to see if the bits of bleeding have cleared) and my left eye is still very blurry - and I have a Certificate day class today! I haven't done any serious stitching since, just some sampling and a rainbow in big stitches, so I hope it'll work...

Re: 2022 St Cross Stitchers Clinic & Hospital
That must have been very scary. Did you injure your eye or hurt it in some way? I have floaters too witch can be very annoying. I know how hard it is, especially when you a class day. I suppose there really isn't any way to make it up? Lots of way to make yourself comfortable here and the light is adjusted so its perfect for you.
Get better soon.

Oh my goodness Mabel, that must have been so scary for you.
I hope it's good news at the Hospital check - up and also that the blurriness clears soon.
I hope the class went well for you.
Dr. Tiny cat will be along shortly for you as well.
The comfiest chairs are ready and waiting and as Carole said the lighting can be adjusted to suit just the way you would like it.

Oh, Mabel, I know how that feels as it happened to me some years back. I still have black floaters too.
I hope you get good news on Monday and the blurry vision soon clears.

Re: 2022 St Cross Stitchers Clinic & Hospital
Thank you all. Because I am very short-sighted the optician has always warned me to take things like this seriously as they can be signs of a detaching retina; on the other hand, it may just be shrinkage of the "jelly" in the eye, which is an old-age thing (how depressing
). I was very glad that after a thorough check-up, even though there were no visible tears, they immediately made an appointment for two weeks later (this coming Monday) just to monitor the slight bleeding. Makes you very grateful for the NHS!
Class was OK, I managed a bud, a small very bright orange tulip and some stems, plus some sampling and a lot of useful discussion with the tutor. She told me to stop shilly-shallying and get on with all that green

Re: 2022 St Cross Stitchers Clinic & Hospital
You are all most kind. Dr Tinycat is a jewel among feline medics, it must be said. And the reading material just hit the correct note.
Afraid that the height of decadent desserts is jelly (Jello)!
Mr S a bit better yesterday, I'm glad to report; I'm doing better, too, but wish I could really clear the gunk from my upper respiratory system. Compared to many, we've had it not too bad. Undoubtedly due to the ministrations in St Cross Stitchers. Did a bit of sashiko yesterday, but don't think I'm competent enough to pick up any of my other projects.
Mabel, look after those eyes. And somehow I can't imagine you "shilly-shallying" exactly, but there does come a time when the thinking has to stop and the doing begin, I guess. (Says she, who is an expert on the former and not so good on the latter... perhaps "shilly-shally" is my akshal middle name?) But once you know your eyes are ok. OK?

I smiled when I read about jelly being the height of desserts.
Not ice-cream then
?
Do take care both you and Mr S.
It's no fun being poorly but I've just set the Elves to load up some of your favourite movies on that new big TV in the quiet corner so when reading becomes to much then the sofa in front of the screen may offer a comfortable viewing platform. Infinitely adjustable and cosy throws to hand for a quick snooze.
Dr Tinycat prescribes Rest and plenty of nourishing fluids.

Re: 2022 St Cross Stitchers Clinic & Hospital
Just back from the hopital- still blurry from the drops so please xcuse any typos - and good news. No tears or or signsof detached retina, praise God. It's the jelly in the eye detaching from theretina which is apparently quite common ("in the over-65s", according to the leaflet. Hmph.) the floaters will probably remain, and the consultamt didn't address the blurring (which I mentioned to him), but he did have a good look around the eye and checked my perpheral vision so I assume that the blurring is just an annoyance but not a health problem. He said to be aware of any changes, new big floaters or flashes or dark areas developing, in which case come back, but if not, then be assured there is nothing to worry abut. Hurray!

Re: 2022 St Cross Stitchers Clinic & Hospital
Good news then!!
You've also been given some sound advice.
Both D/H and I have black floaters!
Our optician 'helpfully' said that when we reach 80 years old the black blobs will sink to the bottom of the eye!
Hmmm... we'll see!
He also said to drink plenty to keep eyes hydrated.
Although I think he meant water!
Amazing how we learn to cope with fuzzy vision and blobs, I think ours could be early cataracts...
not so in your case.

So nothing to worry about
but you are going to have to live with it
I wonder if one of those slices of cake I have just seen wheeled by on the trolley might help
.

Re: 2022 St Cross Stitchers Clinic & Hospital
Glad the news was good.
I have floaters too. I knew that everyone on the tv couldn't have black eyes so went early for my annual check with the eye doctor. They are pretty common and after a while are hardly noticeable. I also agree that cake (or even one of those decadent desserts that we all tend to (or try to) avoid are always helpful in stressful situations or to celebrate when a stressful situation is relieved.
