It is very difficult to see any real change on this one:

Image

There are a few more thread colours of the metallic stitching completed in there but it is a bit of a challenge to spot where they are :thinks:

Yesterday I finished off a couple more threads on Lovely Mum, giving her a bit more of a head shape:

Image

And a third one  for while I sit watching (and to avoid getting bored if nothing happens) the F1 race:

Image

This is that Prelude kit with a couple of flowers on it that I intended to go with my Geishas. I have never seen anything like the threads in this kit, while they are Anchor, I am finding that they are coming apart very easy on the second half and a lot of it just has to be thrown away. I might have to cut the thread they supply in half to see if I an get it to stay together any longer.

The race is due on TV in about an hour so I hope to get more done on this one.

I love all your WIPs! I also stitch while watching F1. My son got me hooked on it a couple years ago and I love it. (He went to the Canada Grand Prix in Montreal in June. I’d love to see one in person, either Austin, TX, or Las Vegas. I have no real desire to see the one in Miami, but if someone gave me tickets I might change my mind. LOL)

Anchor threads should be totally reliable. So I wonder how old the kit is or if Prelude has used look-alike threads to keep costs down? Disappointing at any rate.

Such beautiful stitching.

I find Metallic threads are usually a nuisance to stitch with. Have you tried Thread Magic - it's on Amazon and is similar to Thread Heaven which was discontinued.

Lovely Mum is, well, lovely. She's coming along nicely.

Prelude looks interesting although it's a shame the threads are giving you trouble.

Thank you Ladies,

I can report that by cutting the pairs of thread in half that I seem to be avoiding any more stretching/breaking. If I had been using the single strand that these designs are supposed to be done it it would have been even easier to break these threads.

I am continuing this one while listening to the tv:

Image

I might have to move across a light (or buy another  ) if I wish to continue stitching from the sofa as the year progresses as I am finding I need more light as I get older.

Looks lovely! I'm not sure I could stitch without my magnilight lamp. That is one of the things that happens as you get older too :(. Hope that cutting the threads in half prevents the stretching/breaking problem you had before. Will you have enough thread to complete the project? One of the reasons I am leery of kits is because I've had bad luck with some of them because of thread issues.

Thankyou Mags,

A bit more work on my dragon:

Image

Its really hard to see any difference this week. I have been "in filling" some of the body and all you can notice is that it is a little more coloured.

There have been the first signs of some ducklings:

Image

Which means I am on the home straight and have to start thinking about the next piece :thinks: I noticed the weather is turning so it must be time to think about this one:

Image

The fabric is a bit tight around the edges with only a couple of inches of spare. Even so it is a bit big to go in an 18" sewing frame, the 24" ones were tempting and I have a spare 24" easy clip but I decided that I would treat myself to one of the 21" ones. The best price I could find was on Very Crafty which meant I had to make the order up to get free postage

While I tried not to feel guilty about spending money I made up the thread cards, enlarged the chart and stuck them together into a single HUGE  chart

Image

I am sure I did not mean to enlarge it that much

Wow Jo you have been a busy bee haven't you? Your dragon is fabulous and the Lovely Mum duck with ducklings is very sweet! I can't wait to see your start on the Fall Fairy she is very special and I'm sure the larger size chart will be easier to work with

P.S. It's great to treat ourselves every now and then! Very Crafty is a great site xxx

:applesauce: :applesauce: The ducklings are already adorable! And I'm looking forward to watching The Fall Fairy getting stitched again. She's been a favorite design for different members over the years. And is always a pleasure to see. And not a bad design to prepare for, after the type of summer you've experienced.

While I try to ignore my new piece that I am itching to start  Work continues on my Dragon... You cannot normally see much in the way of progress so a close up of where I am currently working:

Image

I promise you that there are actually less "holes" in the yellow/pink/gold colours. I noticed that I have been very slow in doing the areas in those colours because most of them need the pearl metallic thread added to the thread mix and it takes twice as long to stitch

Hopefully I can get the bottom part of the body done and then I can scroll it down and start adding the tail :D

I decided that I really needed to get on and finish off the metallic threads at the bottom of his body:

Image

Which allowed me to scroll up and start putting in a few stitches for the tail:

Image

So far I am only working in a pair of standard threads, it is so much faster to do than with the metallic. There are lots of fringe-ie bits that I must remember to go back to  .

On the finished piece there is a latticework of backstitch stiches and beads surrounding the cross overs which I am unsure of what they are supposed to represent. I wondered if the outline is supposed to be a window in an ornate temple and the threads some sort of 'pane' with the beads providing the glittering. Does have any other ideas?
