Thank you, Serinde. This makes my heart happy, at the same time it is breaking for Ukraine.

Dear Lyudmila we miss you and hope you, and your family, are safe and well. :grouphug: Are you getting time to do some stitching?

Is it really two years since this second phase of Putin's war on Ukraine started? Putin seems to be fixated on trying to take Russia back to its former glory but who wants to live like they did a thousand years ago? I am reminded of Thomas Hobbes quote in his Leviathan: "No arts; no letters; no society; which is worst of all, continual fear, and danger of violent death; and the life of man, solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short". No one would want to live under the rule of the Kremlin.

I wish the wider world was doing more to help, it always seems to be too little, too late :tantrum:

You and the good people of Ukraine remain in our hearts

Jo

Note: The first stage of the Russian/Ukrainian War was 10 years ago with the illegal annexation on Crimea and their forces going into the East of Ukraine.

My FB memories popped up with the Archbishop of Canterbury's prayer for Ukraine 2 years ago - it's incredible isn't it? And, yes, it did really start much longer ago. And anyone who stands up to Putin ... dies. Surely we must be able to do something to stop him?!?

That is definitely true. But he's got a lot of people around him doing their best to make sure it doesn't happen to him. Still, he will have to face his own mortality at some point. I'm just worried about the damage he can do before that happens.

For one thousand days, Lyudmila, I have hoped that when I logged onto the forum I would see that you had been able to post on the forum, to let us know you are all well and to show us your wonderful stitching. That the war was finally over, you and your family could look forward for a better life in Ukraine. I still live with that hope.

We miss you and look forward to hearing once again from you.

Lyudmila has also been in my thoughts, and after the last few days of heavy bombardment, I was worried and got in touch, prodded by Jo adding to this thread. She is managing, as is her family, although it's clearly tougher than my experience can imagine. But she does send greetings to you all, and appreciates all your care. She also has allowed me to share this piece of stitching with you, which she made for a friend. Lyudmila says she's not stitching or knitting at the moment, but does try to relax between working. I don't know when this was completed

I'm sure you'll agree this is a lovely piece, and completely in the style we know of old. My sight-reading no longer is up to figuring out the music, though.

Lovely to see her embroidery and to hear from her - thank you so much for contacting her! Yes, it is unimaginable; what strength of character they must need just to keep going under those circumstances.

Thank you for reaching out to her Serinde and so good to know she is still surviving under such intolerable conditions.

What a lovely piece :applesauce: I bet her friend is going to be ever so pleased with it.

Thank you for the update. My heart breaks for her and Ukraine. Knowing she is safe is comforting but knowing the war continues is painful.

Dear Lyudmila, we continue to miss you and your wonderful stitching. :grouphug:

It is hard to believe it is now three years since the Russian Dictator started his illegal war against your country. I am not sure if Trumpet has the Ukrainian people/land foremost in his actions/intent but I hope whatever happens this war ends with an enduring peace and that the good people of Ukraine can look forward to being part of our wider European family.

Stay well and "Slava Ukraini""

Definitely thinking of you, Lyudmila.
Your country has friends, and they are helping as much as they can, even if it's not made public.

As for Trumpet.. I can't imagine he's got the best interests of anyone other than himself in mind at any time.

Regards,

Richard
