I finished Bayun Cat (OwlForest Embroidery) last night and I absolutely loved every stitch. He’s part of the series with my serpent, and I have the whale waiting to be done. I thought it was a series of three and today discovered there is a forth one now.
Here’s the story behind Bayun Cat:
In Russian folklore, a huge black talking cat that lives in the Thrice-Ninth Kingdom, usually residing with Baba Yaga in her hut on chicken legs. The сat represents the forces of evil, and acts accordingly: he lulls people into sleep by telling tales or singing songs, then kills them. This hostile character appears in many Russian fairy tales.
I like to think my Bayun Cat has a gentler, kinder side.
