I have started on the border:

TW strikes again: Lots of colour changes with 8 different colours used for backstitching in the border alone

These designs are beautiful, but... I'm glad you are stitching them!

But they are so beautiful when the stitches are added. It brings the pictures to life.

 I've outlined the leaves/stems in the bottom right with the wrong colour so will have to unpick it.

I have been working round the border:

Image

I have chosen to do the backstitching as I go in this border and have been using the big eyed quilting needles I brought from John James last week for the backstitching. Yes I like them. I can see why they would be good for quilting.

Those of you who have been reading my Quilting thread will have seen I had a pair of carpenter's trestles delivered this week to hold my quilt on. In the packaging there was two very handy bits of packing foam which are about an inch thick and fit perfectly between the two rollers on my Elbesee frame which are ideal for parking my backstitching needle on 8)

I like the way you repurpose things :-)
but what a nuisance having to unpick the backstitch - is it really a very different colour from the one it should be?

The backstitching colour was much too dark so I have unpicked it and moved forward:

I've just turned the left hand corner with the leaves and their green outlining. There is a few more colours to add to the flowers before I outline them.

Thank you Mabel. There are lots more of them to do:

I've joined up the outer border edge:

And yes I had to unpick the wrong colour backstitching on the border leaves

Ah yes, that magical moment when you are reassured that you did not miscount anywhere on the border and it all MATCHES UP!! :P
