Looking for a particular linen

Post by Serinde »

I'm looking for a 30ct Weeks Dye Works linen in "dolphin" (a blue gray). I've seen some on Etsy from the US, which looks quite reasonable in price... until you see the P&P! I think I've looked in all the usual places in the UK that sell a selection of linen, but have come up empty. Any advice? Any idea of a substitute?

It's for this Ink Circles design for Elder Son. Who could resist, with a title like that, eh?

That's a brilliant design  - I love Ink Circles.

As for the fabric, I've found it here on eBay as part of a bundle of three - so it rather depends if you can use the other two! It says you can make an offer....

And an offer has been duly made. We'll see what happens. Thanks, Mabel.

It's jolly pricey - I thought the £50 was for all three

I didn’t pay full price. But if you look at what a full yard of this fabric costs, that’s not an unreasonable price. Especially given there are no import duties to pay and quite reasonable postage costs.

You are going to have plenty left for your next piece :thinks:

I must have looked at them too long because I seem to have attracted an offer on Fleabay

Glad you managed to get it for a reasonable price. Import and postage do make a big difference, that's true. I'd love to order some things from America but it just isn't feasible in most cases :-(

I did order some stuff from Italy, and had it sent to my aunt in the Netherlands, where I'll pick it up in December - that works!

Well, I did once have my luggage picked out at the scan thing because I was carrying some Austin Seven kingpins....
