Thank you Ladies, it is a bit like an advent calendar :D I've just found some baby birdies being cared for by a parent:

A Foxie and I am not sure if that is a snake or a bush :thinks:

I don't think I mentioned how I am managing my working threads on this one:

Normally I take an enlarged photocopy of the floss list with the symbols on it and glue it on to a piece of card, punching holes next to each symbol through which I put the lengths of thread I have cut of the skeins/split strand off.

Image

But this time, instead of using cardboard I am using some offcuts of mounting board. The foam layer between the two outside card/paper layer gives me something to poke my threaded needles in:

I normally use commercial needle holders for my pieces but this free version is working well.

Goodnews Postimg is working again so I can show you where I have got to on my Forest:

Image

There are 10 pages of the chart and I am just moving from the first two vertical pages to the second pair. Of course when I enlarged them from A4 to A3 (so I could easily read them) the pages enlarged at slightly different rates so I cannot put them side by side to see how to join a tree across the edges of the pages

I think there must be as many animals & Birds as trees on this piece:

Like the Owl who is hiding in the hole in the tree :D

That's a big hole! It's fun finding all the animals, like a... hmm, we call it a "zoekplaatje" in Dutch which literally means "search picture", do you have a name for those things, like the where's Wally books?

Mabel, I'm sure there is, but I don't know what that word is off hand. I'd describe this particular sampler as a nature motif "spot sampler", I guess -- full of useful ideas to incorporate in other pieces.

Jo, this just keeps getting better. The fact that each motif is small enough, almost, to do quickly must be a bonus, too?

I've had to scroll some of the trees onto the roller:

Image

On to the second half of the 3rd/4th pages of 14. I won't be finishing this one this year

Another pair of pages completed:

Image

As the next pair included part of the "tree of life"'s branches I thought I had miss counted and there was only 12 pages to this pattern but no there is 14. The centre pair is the tree trunk and the phrase that I will be replacing with something more appropriate

Merry Christmas and happy stitching :D

Looking good.

Will there be another critter in the oval on the left side? Guess we'll have to wait and see.
