Following a conversation about "io" in "Ding dong merrily on high" at church, a friend sent me a discussion on a sacred music forum (the music rather than the forum is sacred, I assume). My very favourite post in that discussion:

When in doubt, just sing "fa la la la la".

Sound advice 😄

Tracy edges away quite visibly when I sing. Even if I am singing 'fa la la la', so it doesn't help.

Richard.

So-called nonsense syllables ( such as 'o ro') are a thing in Gaelic singing, too. But apparently they aren't actually nonsense. In waulking songs they often help maintain the all-important beat.

Not comic for that poor bird! (a common tern?) Red squirrels always strike me as slightly maniacal.

So funny. I also loved the eagle that was being chased by its catch:

At the Knitting & Stitching Show I came across the stand of Ernest Wright, makers of beautiful scissors. As I was exploring their website for possible future Christmas or birthday presents, I came across the term ‘Master Scissor Putter-togetherer’. This gives me joy ✂️😊

Okay, the guys here might not like this story (since many men shy away when feminine products are mentioned lol). Back in the day when tampons were in the cardboard tubes, my friend’s nephews discovered her stash. They proceeded to use them as guns, popping the tampons out of their tubes with as much force as they could, apparently engaging in some kind of warfare. She walked into the living room with tampons everywhere.

Probably…or they could totally own it for its very creativity. :-)
