goat art

Post by fccs »

I went to California a couple weeks ago and did absolutely no stitching. I did, however, help some goats paint.

Here I am as the goat's assistant:

And here is the finished piece:

And here is the artist, complete with peanut butter on his chin:

Squeeze colors of acrylic paint on a canvas. Smear peanut butter on one outer side of a baggie big enough to hold the canvas. Carefully slide the canvas into the baggie and let the goat lick the peanut butter. When he does that, it spreads the globs on paint on the canvas and poof! A work of art is created.

I first saw goat art on Instagram and bought one (painted canvas, not a goat). I told my friend about it and she presented the idea to the farm where she volunteers as a possible fundraiser. Now they sell the works of art, along with a photo of the goat artist, for something like $15USD for a 4x6 painting.

You can really do it with any animal really. Just replace the peanut butter with another animal-safe “smearable” treat. We had to entice some of the goats by pressing kibble type goat treats into the peanut butter.

I might suggest it to the alpaca farm down the road!

You definitely should. It's inexpensive and people LOVE animal art.
