That pheasant is captured brilliantly - a surprising amount of detail!

I've just scrolled the fabric to enable me to do the top and I have run out of fabric :tantrum:

Having put my ruler over the piece and the chart I have come up with the conclusion that this pattern has been made up of combining a "bush with birds in it" and a "trunk", this accounts for the messed up symbols on the top and bottom of the chart and the fact that the dimensions for the fabric is only for the top part of the piece.

I am going to give up on this and go and do something less frustrating like quilting.

Oh, no!! There must be a way to rescue this after you have done so much beautiful stitching.

Go and do some quilting and have a think. We all will, too.

The best I have found so far is to Stop effectively where I am with the Partridge, top the tree at that level and do the left. This will cut 3" off the top of the tree and it is going to be more of a shrub

There be little space for the trunk and the Saying won't fit.

With a rearrangement of the words I can now get them on and I am going to have to add "tapes" to top and bottom to enable it to be mounted in a frame.

The steam is still coming out of my ears over this but I am going to continue ..

I think I have found a solution of the top:

Image

I've taken out one of those big pink buds, and shortened the blue bit going up the middle to reduce the overall height of the main tree by 2". I will not add the birds or the 'star' to the top. And I have removed a column of 4 of the darker buds and two flowers to the right above the Partridge. I now have about 1 1/2" of top fabric which is hopefully enough for mounting

I am not sure about the 'gap' above to the right of the partridge. Originally there were more flowers behind it. Maybe I could find a smaller one to put in there :thinks:

I've gone across the "top" and started adding on the left:

I can still see gaps in the modified bits :thinks:

You are doing a wonderful job here. Are you able to modify any of the motifs to fit in the spaces?
