Re: New wippy, L&L's Celtic Ladies
Glad you all like it so far. I've done the left hand border upto the bottom of the 'spring' lettering and the bouquet, but i haven't taken a picture of it yet. Hopefully i'll get chance to do some over the weekend.

I did this one on cream fabric and she's gorgeous but this one of yours takes the cake! That fabric is lovely and suits the colour scheme so well.
Well chosen!

Re: New wippy, L&L's Celtic Ladies
Absolutely nothing to do with my wippy's, the forum, or anything really, but yesterday i finally got to have a go on my OH's new (10 months ago) motorbike. A Kawasaki Versys 650 ..xyz something or other, as Sarah knows if its got less than 4 wheels and isn't an Audi, i don't pay much heed
Going at 85mph along a country road in a howling gale ain't a lot of fun as the pillion. And when we had to slow down very quickly when we came upto a 30mph zone was even more un-fun,
i nearly went over my OH, and the handlebars, in a freezing cold howling cross-wind with my jacket all puffed up. All i could think was 'why do people get obsessed with this lark, whats the attraction, in my car i've got a proper seat, a heater, a roof and doors....' It's a very nice ride though, better than his last bike which was a dreadful boneshaker. Gonna wait for better weather before i venture on it again though

Re: New wippy, L&L's Celtic Ladies
managed to get a shifty on with spring, at last...

got the sleeve done on monday, and...
the head, hair and most of the border yesterday and today. I've just realised how much beading there is on these patterns, not my favourite part of embroidery. That will get done last, probably when i've completed all five pics, then do them all at once.

Re: New wippy, L&L's Celtic Ladies
i nearly got her finished today, there's just the top border to do (apart from the beads). I'll have another stab (pardon pun) at her later when madam has gone to bed.
Winter next. I was comparing the pictures of the whole set earlier, i'm going to alter the lettering slightly on her; the blue-white-blue shading is a bit....
, its neater, if thats the right word, on the others. And i think i'm gonna have to colour match the beads best i can with the petite seed ones, with the shrinkage to nearly 18c of the material you can hardly make out the spaces where they go.
I'm surprised how quick i've got Spring done, they're not as complicated as they appear. Oh aye, i don't use metallics, i use machine embroidery thread instead, much easier to work with and just as shiny (i keep meaning to say, and forgetting, dummydolly i am)

Oooh, interesting! Tell me more? What brand? How many colours? Where'd you buy it? So many questions, such a fab idea!!StephanyNJC-UK wrote:Oh aye, i don't use metallics, i use machine embroidery thread instead, much easier to work with and just as shiny

I wouldn't even have thought to use machine embroidery thread rather than metallic.StephanyNJC-UK wrote:Oh aye, i don't use metallics, i use machine embroidery thread instead, much easier to work with and just as shiny (i keep meaning to say, and forgetting, dummydolly i am)

TB, the blending filaments I sent you are Madeira's no.40, which several sites sell as a machine thread (it's sold on a spool or reel). But there are other types as well, some of them thicker than the ones I use, but I haven't tried those yet.

Re: New wippy, L&L's Celtic Ladies
Yep thats the one Mabel's said, i've also got some DMC ones and another make called ?Stiku. I'll dig em out later and get the shade no's. A mate of my sister's gave me a box full years ago - the firm she worked for was throwing em out (!!) and she salvaged em for us. I think its the stuff they sew motifs onto clothing with on those fancy sewing machines.
I'll be baaack.....NEARLY got the top border complete

Re: New wippy, L&L's Celtic Ladies
I understand what you mean about the metallic for quilting and sewing I have a spool of gold and one of silver. They are very smooth and nice to work with. The ones I have are from Coats Company and I am just about out of my gold so I have to go get another one.
As a matter of fact I was unhappy with the halo on the SnowAngel I an doing so I frogged that and used the spooled gold it looks much better now.

Re: New wippy, L&L's Celtic Ladies
..these are the reels..

i used the browns for the hair on World Peace Angel, and the blues and greens for nearly all Mirabilia's Waiting for Ships mermaid.
These are the ones i use for golds instead of metallics, and the silver for wisper to mix with white..

the 2 on the left are some make called Sulky no's 30 & 40 (shades 1025 & 1061) the orangey one is a Sticku no.30, 1137, and the silvery one i can't make out the name on it.
