Round Robin!?

Post by Rose »

Some one was asking about maybe doing a Round Robin Stitching. I have asked around about what is involved and how to set it up. After many sites I found one that really explains what to do and how to do it.

http://www.round-robins.org.uk/

It does seem to take a lot of work to set-up but at least we have an idea of how to go about starting. If anyone is interested in doing one of these here is the info, at the moment life is just to busy so I can not set anything up. I'm not even sure I could participate until the end of September. At that time I would be interested in doing something of this style.

I am pretty busy too during the summer so Sept sounds good to me. The only concern I have is that wretched postal system!! If it has to walk from the US to Europe... well? Hmm

that's going to be hard to organize..due to everyone being from different places..like I'm in the US and things take so long to get out of country unless you pay the super high shipping and I am next to broke

but if there would be a way to organize the order to make it easier to ship...i would be in!

I would have to wait for a couple of months too, but I am definately interested. If no one else is able to organise, I could do it, but as a novice to this kind of thing, I'm quite happy if someone esle wants to.

I was thinking that it would make sense to get a list of everyone who wants to participate, and group people from the same countries together save going round and round the globe, just one continent at a time.

Thanks for the link Rose! It does sound complicated but fun. I'd be interested in either an international one or a UK one.

As a 'Yank' in the UK, I think I've heard about every joke going.
Most people are fine, but I have encountered prejudice here and there as soon as I open my mouth and that Midwest accent comes out.
A stitch in time is my idea of a perfect day!

When I still lived in Montana and we would visit Canada we would hear the Damn Yanks comment up there also. So we would just take it in stride.

I wondered if we are doing it so that it goes back to the original person so that theres a rotation of more than one ,or is it for a charity?Like if the person wants squares of say angels or flowers and each person does one and sends it on and recieves another that is cats and so on so they are returned to its owner!

(If that is understood! :? as it is late!!)

As I understand the way it is suppose to work is the person that starts the square say {me} and I would want my theme to be Snowmen....(I love snowmen) The person who originated the square would mark off the sections for each of the following stitchers, However many people are in the round robin say{6} each person does a snowman once they recieve the square...they may have 4 weeks to work on there piece. Once they have each finished there particular snowman then the piece would be shipped back to {me} and that way you would get the theme you originally picked.

This is the way I understand the way it is suppose to work.

I think they ship it to whoever is next on the list Rose and then when all the sqaures are complete it is shipped back to the originator (ie you).

I was wondering if everyone is going to start one so everyone gets something out of it,If there is a order/list that it gets rotated and a time limit each person has on their squares,I have to ask as I haven't done one and I suppose it's ideal to be straight on everything before :D :D

yes it goes back to the person that started it. Just like the chart swap.
so basically everyone stitches a small part for fun..it's a way to help people with their wip too..and each time the rr is over, a new one can be started by another person..and sent around.

I will have to sit this one out. Not to sound greedy but this is when I start my christmas for sale stitching. having 2 kids and 1 paycheck..christmas and bdays all hit at the end of the year..plus winter clothes..etc.
so every penny helps and I make a couple hundred on stuff..
so I am very busy stitching.

I hope this doesn't sound bad..I know stitching should be for fun.. :(

I know just how you feel C_F, being on a disability income I too have to try to make a little extra through my stitching. I knit as well and take orders for garments etc.. :ratherbe:
