Carded floss??

Post by Dobby »

OK, surfing around for some stash, and came across a Janlynn kit that says it included *carded floss*. What is it and how is it different from regular floss?

Thanks,
Pam

As far as I can tell it just means the floss is on a card. But I could be wrong.

I can't think of anything done to floss to give it that name, but I do know the kits I've bought either come sorted on cards or with loose threads. I always called those threads carded or pre-sorted.

You're most welcome. And we're all newbies now and then ^_^

It might simply mean that the floss has been pre-sorted and put onto cards so you can start stitching right away.

I think Angel and Serinde are right, though the phrase did remind me of carded wool :-)

That was what hit me first off as well... . Not sure if there are any grammar police on this forum, but it seems like pre-sorted is a better description, *carded* sounds as if they've verbized (oh, I'm sure THAT'S a real word  ) a noun.

Thanks for all your replies. (I didn't actually order the kit, but did order some other stuff!! Now I can respond to the *what has the postperson brought you thread*...).

Pre-sorted is a much clearer description, but carded also works I guess.
