Happy Fall everyone.
My name is Melody and I've been stitching for about fifteen years. Soon I will start a small group through my church based on Cross Stitching. I hope to meet some new "real life" Cross stitching friends this way. I have seen the art dying out and like to stay in touch with people who still love to stitch and teach new people who are interested.

Welcome to the forum!
I run a small cross stitch group too, It's very fun and I wish yours all the best.
I ran into my next door neighbour on my way out the door on Thursday and we got to chatting about things like cross stitch and I don't believe it is actually dying out. Yeah it's not as common as it was a hundred years ago, but if it was dying out I don't think there'd be as much on offer kit wise as there is. If anything the range of kits on offer has actually increased one hell of a lot since my gramma used to do it. Even since my aunts did it. I think though as it is something you don't have to do in groups and you don't tend to brag about on the internet it is out of the public eye. But it is by no means a dying art.

Hello and welcome.
I don't know many people round me who stitch, there doesn't seem to be the interest there was, but I went into my local chemist to get some cheapy reading glasses (for stitching) and was surprised to find one of the assistants in there likes to do it sometimes.
She has stopped on a project at the moment though as she is finding it hard to stitch on black.

Welcome from the West of Scotland. So glad you found us.
The wonderful thing about the intertubes is that it allows like-minded stitchers to find one another easily. Hooray!

Hello and welcome to the forum, Melody.

Re: New Member
Hello and Welcome to our little group. It sounds so fun to have a group of like minded people all getting together and haveing a good old time. I would like to do something like that but we own our business and I like 12 miles outside of town to my time is limited and I don't know that folks want to drive all the way out here just to have an hour or two to stitch.
If you are looking for some one to help change you, look in the mirror

Hello and WELCOME from Birmingham, uk.
I hope your group goes well! I'd love to have one here!
Actually, I don't think this city contains many cross stitchers or tapestry stitchers any more. Or if there are, they are as frustrated as I am! All the craft shops that used to sell stuff have gradually closed down. The last one that I used died about 2 years ago
and I haven't discovered any others, so I now have to use the net. There are card craft shops opening instead. It's the present 'in' thing.

Hi and welcome to the forum! I guess not as many people stitch anymore..but then again you sometimes come to find out people stitch who you never thought would. There's actually three of us here at my work that cross stitch and there is only a few of us all together so you just never know. Glad to have you here. Hope to see some of your work soon!
