My Arms in plaster, now what do I do??
Well it looks like I won't get any of my projects done for Christmas now as I had my right arm put in plaster yesterday.
I have RSI of the tendons in my right wrist which flared up again three weeks ago, they just don;t seem to be healing this time so my consultant has opted to plaster the arm to give the tendons total rest for four weeks. If this doesn't work then the only other option is surgery to repair the tendons.
I am just hoping it heals this time.

Aww, Kym, what a shame! You must be so disappointed not to be able to stitch! I hope your arm heals well though in the meantime and doesn't take too long about it. Have some
and
to cheer you up.

Sorry to hear your news Kym. That's going to be so frustrating for you. I really hope though that it wll be worth it and the total rest works without you needing surgery. And hopefully someone else will now be cooking your Christmas dinner (and doing the washing up afterwards
)

Aww, that's nice of him, I hope you find a suitable stand. Even slow stitching is better than no stitching!

Awwwwwww Kym sorry to hear your news. I hope you find something suitable and can get a little bit done - just be careful not to overdo your left arm!! I hope you're feeling better soon I know how painful RSI can be I used to suffer with knots in my shoulders when I worked as a Secretary but, fortunately, nothing too bad but even that was painful. You have my sympathy xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Mel xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Well, pleh! There is never a good time to have an arm in plaster, but if immobilising it is the only answer... Gold star for OH for thinking of the stand.

Oh poor you, what a nuisance, and over Christmas, too! I hope it'll soon get better, but make sure you allow it to get completely well before you start doing things with it!

Re: My Arms in plaster, now what do I do??
I know it's a pain right now, but if it works at least it will all have been worthwhile.
Really hope that's case.

Hope you avoid surgery and hope that you manage ok in the meantime with the frame.
What a lovely thoughtful hubby.

Oh no, sorry about your wrist but good news about the stand! And I agree with coffee_freak, you deserve to be buying lots of extra stash for when it's settled down again!

Re: My Arms in plaster, now what do I do??
Thank you for all your nice replies. Well I have managed to get a stand which OH is going to set up for me tonight so that I can still do the odd bit of stitching but your all right I have to be careful not to flare the RSI up in my left hand.
I have taken your advice and have been stash shopping, SSSSSSSssssshhhh don't tell OH. I have bought, all from ebay so didn't really cost too much:
- two pieces of the Magic DMC aida
- 100 Anchor threads
- a father christmas kit
- a eeyore kit
- a old english sheepdog kit
- baby blue and baby pink aida (to do a birth sampler on when I know what sex my sister is having)
I have also done a bit of Christmas shopping and got front row tickets for my mum to see Dancing on Ice, she has asked me for the 2008 dancing on ice dvd for Christmas but I decided to do one better and get tickets to see it live and the dvd. I hope she likes the surprise.

Re: My Arms in plaster, now what do I do??
It's nice that your OH knows how much stitching means to you. And with buying 100 thread think of all the winding you can do to put them on bobbins (if you do). It might not be stitching but it's stash related and it always feels good to play with your stash.

Re: My Arms in plaster, now what do I do??
It certainly does! But don't do too much bobbin winding or you may hurt your arm even more
-- perhaps you'll just have to look at them and decide whether to store them by colour, or number, and what you will use them for, and so on
