The Castle - FINISHED!!!!

Post by TabLVT »

As I mentioned in my intro thread, I started Teresa Wentzler's The Castle in April 2008. It has been exactly 8 months since I started it and I have over 150 hours into it so far. I am stitching this on antique white 28 count even-weave, over 2.

I have been keeping an hour log of time spent, and also taking pics at 20-30 hour intervals.

This is stunning work, well done! You must be really enjoying it. I've actually stitched this picture myself and gave it to my parents. The dragon is lovely to stitch, isn't he? Can't wait to see your next update picture!

This is absolutely amazing :applesauce: :applesauce:
I also like your idea of keeping a log of the hours and taking pics at regular intervals, I had never thought of doing that. I might try it on my next large project :)

That is beautiful!!!!

I agree that it's a great idea you had to log your hours and take pics at regular intervals.

It's turning out to be really, really stunning. GREAT work!

 This is beautiful! You've done a wonderful job with it! My son wanted me to do a dragon picture for him, and I tried to talk him into this one because I would like to stitch it, but he wanted something else. :? Maybe some day I'll add this to my project list.

Wow, everyone! Thanks so much for all the replies! I'm so glad you like it :) You all make me really motivated to work hard so I can take another pic to post :D

Yep, the chart is completely handwritten. It does look very daunting, with all its blended threads and quarter stitches and everything, but its not too bad, actually. I like it because its not boring to do.

You should do it next year! I'm not sure what chart you have, but if its the hand-written one, there is a list of corrections you might want to check out beforehand. And I found one mistake in the chart that wasn't listed anywhere in any of the corrections I've found - there is a patches of stitches on the right side of the rocks marked by open/empty boxes, but there is no open box in the thread key. Turns out they should be filled/black boxes instead.

I really hope you start it - you'll love it and I would love to see how you do it. It's really interesting how different people tackle different projects. I like to do one color at a time and do all the backstitching last... the backstitching will probably be the hardest part, come to think of it! LOL

I have this one too. It's somewhere on my list but this next year I'm working on my stockings. Eventually I'll stop stitching for everybody else and start stitching for myself. LOL
