Re: Lauren's First SAL! *Framed*

Post by purvislets »

Mini update:

I FedEx'd this project last week to one of Sean's moderators. He is graduating from college tomorrow and she is going to hand deliver this to him when she arrives in California either today or tomorrow. I told her to have him consider it a graduation present from a few fans! If it does get on the webcast, it probably won't be for a few weeks as he's going to be traveling overseas for a competition.

Before I sent it off, I had my kids pose for a picture with it.

As you can see, my daughter is super excited, but my son is too busy pretending to play Final Fantasy II to really care.

:whine: A stitcher's worst nightmare....

FedEx LOST my package.

All that work, all that effort, gone. I'm so upset, but at the same time I know that being mad and angry is not going to bring my project back.

Day [9]'s moderator Cara emailed my husband today to let him know that it had gotten lost. She's been on the phone with them for the past 4 days trying to locate it, but to no avail. They haven't given her much hope of the package being recovered.

What bothers me the most is I feel like I've lost all the effort that went into it. I was working on this particular piece when I had mini-stroke and through most of my recovery. It was what kept me sane and what kept me focused and something I was so excited to learn that I could still do.

Luckily, I still have the pictures from the process. She's going to forward my blog address to Day [9] so he can see the project. I'm feeling compelled to maybe do this one again because I feel like I should.

Right now I'm just going to get some sleep. :(

OMG.... how how disappointing all that work lost ... I hope they are able to find it.... did you insure it at least ?? Nothing can repay you for all your time and effort but at least you can redo the project.

Oh how awful, I am so sorry for you! Packages do turn up again after the longest time sometimes (I had one delivered from America 3 months after I'd ordered it) so don't give up hope altogether.

I feel so bad for you.  I am sure Fed Ex will do what they can. It is so unusual, but happens that they lose packages. I had a job offer when I graduated long ago that never came that was sent via Fed Ex. If they company hadn't called to find out why I didn't respond, I wouldn't have known. And it was the one I took. The first package finally arrived 2 months later so it can turn up.

and the effort wasn't for nothing because it helped you through a difficult time and that can never be changed.

Nope, we didn't insure it. They paid for the shipping (which was already at an outrageous cost because they wanted it shipped in 2 days) so we just sent it off. I'm kicking myself now for not paying for the insurance!

I am still hopeful that it will turn up someday. It can't be lost into nothingness forever!

Thank you all so much for the encouragement. :)

There's usually some automatic insurance, especially when you pay for speedy shipping. Have you checked into that? I thought they covered $100, but I may be getting shipping co.'s mixed up.

This is so awful.. I really hope it turns up someday.

I don't think FedEx does. The lady asked me specifically if I wanted to put insurance on it and I just said no. I didn't even know what amount to insure it for, and I didn't think it would actually get lost (famous last words, right?).

Next time I ship something though, I'm going to use the Ghost Stitchers pricing chart to figure out how much it's worth and definitely get it insured.

I'm so sorry to hear this! I was thinking about it the other day (after a tornado hit the area), of how it must be awful to lose a piece of work like that, and I do hope they end up locating it!

Oh how sad. I am sorry that they have lost your work. The work was not wasted it helped in a difficult time and it was an amazing project. :x: That something will happen and it is found.

 Ikes! Stitching lost in shipment! Ugh..
But the thing with FedEx.. with everything being scanned in and out.. they should have a good idea of where it is and it will probably show up at some point. But the waiting and checking would drive me bonkers until it was found. Everything is weighed and they've even taken box dimensions when I have brought things to them before.. so they'll at least have an idea of what they are looking for.
Keep us posted on whatever happens with this.. this story isn't over yet
