The plot thickens.... Here's some of the email that we got in response from the moderator:
"FedEx tried to deliver the package three times to Sean's house, but we had already left for Korea. This didn't concern us, because his roommates were there and they were going to look for it. The roommates say they never had any notice of attempted delivery.
Apparently, if FedEX delivers to a residence, they don't require anyone to sign for the package, the way they do for a business. That was news to all of us.
The FedEx delivery guy reported that after 3 attempts, he left the package on the porch of Sean's house. We don't see how this is possible, since the house is twenty feet back from the road and the entire house is surrounded by a seven foot tall iron fence with spikes on the top with a locked gate and a security system. He would have had to scale the iron fence to put it there. I suppose it is possible that he simply threw the package over the fence into the yard, but that seems irresponsible too. The neighborhood is dicey. Hence the fence.
The roommates came and went during this period and saw no FedEx package anywhere on the porch or in the yard. We can only assume someone stole the FedEX, although they, too, would have had to scale the security fence to retrieve it."
So now I don't even know if fighting with FedEx would be worth my time. If they did leave it, and someone took it, then it is gone for good. =(
That is awful and sounds like they are telling porkies to me! Challenge them!
I'm so sorry, its really not a nice end to something that was so wonderful and did you so much good - that last good has not been wasted though, it helped through a hard time.
I honestly don't believe that they left this package on his porch, but since I am on the other side of the country I have no way to challenge them on that issue. I received an email from FedEx pretty much saying that they are siding with their driver and that they hope to provide more excellent customer service in the future.
Unless someone miraculously appears with the package, I'd say it's gone for good.
What a sorry tale I am so sorry Sean did not get your wonderful gift. FedEx have certainly messed up on this one and they don't seem to be too remorseful either, havee you even had an apology from them?
I have just caught up with this thread, what a wonderful work, and what a terrible end to the story.
I am really sorry for you

Nope. The sentiment seems to be "We delivered it, not our problem". They even told me to "file a claim" with the person who mailed it... I thought that was particularly funny!
