Re: Brandi's Small Projects - Update 7/31

Post by geekishly »

Thanks! I have acquired the proper needle threaders and thread, so I can tackle the beading shortly. Trying to resist the urge to delve right into my game, but I really would like to be able to call this completely done.

Cayenne, I will definitely let you know what I think of the game. :) I got the Mark of Mastery Edition and was quite pleased to find out the protective 3DS case that comes with it is clear, so you can still see that beautiful shade of red that I picked for my 3DS color. It would be great if they released portable editions of the older games. I guess we'll have to see. I've got all the systems though, so it doesn't much matter to me. But it would be great for getting people into the series who don't have PS2s (though honestly you can snag a used PS2 for about $50 and get copies of the first two games pretty cheap.)

While I dont know anything about the games you are talking about and have none of those devices, I do know that your lady is absolutely beautiful. And I think foregoing the border and using the hoop as a frame is a wonderful idea. Your step-mom is going to be delighted.

Have fun with your new game and don't stay away too long.

I'll still be popping onto the forum about as much as usual, but I probably won't get much stitching done. XD

Anyway, here is the final beaded piece:
Image

I need to properly take care of the excess fabric, but otherwise it's done.

And taking the idea from The Bean, I've made a gif of my progress on this one.

edit: here's a closeup of the beads.

I can't seem to capture the true color of the periwinkle beads. but they're mill hill 02103, which if you've seen in person have this almost multicolored look to them.

Thanks! I'm glad I managed to finish it rather quickly. :) Gives me confidence to tackle some of the other patterns of that size from the magazines.

Thank you. I'm really glad I went for beads over french knots, much faster and more uniform. and no dark threads stretching all over the place on the back.

Thanks everyone. I am really glad I went for the beads over the french knots.

Fiddler, if you look at blackwork as simply back stitches and half stitches, it's really quite easy. :) There's a lot of free blackwork patterns online, so you can easily grab a small one and give it a try. :) There's really nothing to lose in giving it a try.

Very beautiful! Love the look of the beads - I'll have to remember that instead of doing french knots.

And enjoy the game!

Thanks!

Cayenne, I don't mind doing a few french knots here and there, but with as many as there were... it just felt like too much hassle. Beads aren't hassle free, but they are less fussy than french knots. and given how many of them you get for a little over a buck, it's not bad at all. I could do this project 4 more times and still have leftover beads.

I will and am! Haven't gotten too far into it, other things have been keeping me busy, but hopefully tomorrow will be a nice relaxing day for me and allow me to spend hours playing the game.
