Good to do it now before you've done a lot of work on this. Especially since you were having trouble with fraying as well!

Reminded me of Pern, as well - except for the buildings! Lovely project - I

dragons, and will keep an eye out for this one.

That's such a lovely design and I'm looking forward to seeing your progress. Sorry to hear about your problem with the material but it's a good job you realised at this early stage.
It will be really gorgeous when you've finished it

Pern was the first thing that popped in my mind when I saw I first saw it too.

I hate that your fabric wasn't right, but at least you realized closer to the beginning. I'll be watching for updates; this is gorgeous!

The first thing I wondered when I saw the design was "Which Dragonrider from Pern is it?" and was surprised how many others thought of Pern too.
Its a shame the fabric wasn't right, but at least you caught it early. I am going to be looking forward to your progress. It will be a beautiful piece when finished.

So I finally ordered fabric through another site and gave up on the other I'd ordered, and it came today!!! I now have a yard of 18 ct aida...I'm too afraid of linen for anything else lol so now I just have to count it out and start!! I'm super busy with summer classes, but I should be able to post an update soon

I am so glad you have restarted this one because I really am looking forward to watching your progress. I love dragons and I love all the Pern books. I think I must have all of them either as "real" books or audioversions or both. Good start.

Thanks! I'm really excited to get to use another color soon hahaha. The only thing is I'm using 18 ct and so the fabric is huge and gets in my way and I can only roll it back so much before it gets bulky...is there anything I can do to make it easier to work with?

Are you using a hoop, q snap, or frame to stitch with? With the q snaps, you can buy or make fabric pockets that go around the outside that can help hold the extra fabric. I haven't tried them. Maybe find a way you can prop the top/bottom part on something to help take the extra weight off?
