Welcome from Somerset. As you can probably tell by now this is a friendly and fun place to be. Haven't taken a look at your SAL yet but I will. Your question about Madeira threads I have come across a stockist recently in Ilfracombe. It is a little shop called Smugglers. The entrance was taken up by a stand full of madeira threads. I was in there while on Holiday and picked up their card. They are not online but on the card they operate a mail order service. It is Geoff & Chris Shaw and the telephone number is 01271 863457 from 10am to 10pm. This is the only place I have seen madeira threads. Hope this is of some help to you.

Thank you Nettie, you are so kind. I will give them a call and see if I can get the thread I need to finish off a Betty Boop project I have had sitting around for a while. I need one colour to finish her legs and didn't want to swap to DMC incase there was a slight colour change and it was noticable. Back home in the Midlands I had no problems getting hold of Madeira a few years back but on a recent trip back there I was informed they are no longer doing them either.
