Something else that may be helpful. I tried to keep colour continuity when I reached the ends of each length of thread.

What I mean is I was working with 2 strands. I would cut a length off the skein (call the end that you're not cutting end A and end you're cutting end B).

Then I would stitch from end A to end B. Then end B to end A. Then end A to end B.
Then for the next length that you cut you can match the end B. (This actually works for all even number of strands, for odd numbers you would stitch end B to end A first).

Thank you for that kimkat. I see what you mean. I normally use the loop method for securing my thread, and I now realise that this would be wrong for this type of thread. I hadn't even thought of that until your post. :)
