The critters are just for my pleasure really. I stitched the 4 sea creatures as a test run for stitching with my sisters guide unit, even doing blanket stitch right handed for the first time! I had fun with the girls stitching but the lack of basic sewing knowledge suprised me - we had to tell them how to do things like pinning two pieces of felt together to cut out the same shape twice, and putting pins inside the line of the template not the paper outside so that it doesn't move.
Anyway I'm thinking of stitching the sea creatures again and hanging them in the internal windows of my office (if I'm allowed) kinda like a felt aquarium.
I have stalled on the last 400 stitches of Curl Up which is quickly becoming a problem as I would like to finish it before I really start in on working on my Christmas gifts (and Christmas is just over a month away now! )
Here is where it's stuck:
I have finished my first Christmas gift though - Little Round Bluebird (from book: Little Birds):
cute little bird. He is going to make a precious gift for someone. And I hope you manage to get those stitches in. I can't wait to see this one done. Its on my wish list. I just love the little dragons.

Love your little bird ! Curl Up is looking great - I'm sure you'll find your mojo to do those last 400 stitches - you did so amazingly well on finishing your Degas piece that you are probably all stitched out!

So I finally did it - I put in 220 stitches on Tuesday night and 180 stitches on Wednesday afternoon and finished Curl Up!
So now I have a month to create:
6 Pointsettia humbugs
2 goldfish softies
1 chicken softie
2 gardening chickadees
and finish the Country Threads Possum I've been working on for the past couple of weeks
CONGRATULATIONS. This is a great finish. I have this one in my wish list and love seeing it done so well. You are setting a great example.
Now that you have completed this, I think you will get the rest of your list done in no time.
Hope you'll post pics of your softie critters. The others were so cute.

So since last Thursday I've made quite good progress on the list of gifts I had to stitch before Christmas:
I've finished a Chickadee (which may or may not be for my sister):
I've stitched most of the first Poinsettia humbug. I've just got the gold metallic swirls to do and the DMC light effects were giving me grief and my Thread Heaven has lost it's stickness, so I need to get more before I can continue. I'll leave the beads in the centre of the poinsettias until I've stitched all six and then add the beads all at once.
Finally I stitched What would Santa Do. I really liked this when I saw it in CrossStitcher and it fit nicely in the little corner of fabric I had left of the piece of mottled green I'm using for the chickadees and humbugs. I made a few changes from the pattern - over 1 on 28ct instead of over 2, added Kreinik blending filament to the white in the hat, changed the colour and left out the cross stitch in the text, and plumped out the beard (it was uneven and looked strange) but I like the results (I've also added a picture of what it 'should' be )
