Just caught up with this thread. I too had wondered what fractals were and now I know. It is going to be absolutely stunning when all 4 are together.

Just love the flower ones too, especially the right hand side one, my colours.

Even though I took my computer home over the long weekend to catch up on some work I still managed to get nearly another 4000 stitches done on this (maybe that the second page of the HAED freebie came out over the weekend and I can't finish that until this is finished had something to do with getting a lot done... ).

It's rather weird to have finished some of the colours before I've even started others, but I've nearly got all the different sections started ( :x: tonight I'll get the centre of the swirl finished....)

9080 stitches complete, 60.53% of this fractal, 90.13% of the four fractals (definitely on the home stretch.... )

Exactly what I've got left to do:

ITS DONE!!!!!!!   (but it needs a wash  )

Got the last 651 stitches in last night
Image

It took me just under 9 months to complete the 4 (all 60,000 stitches):
Image

I probably should have started about 5 rows higher as the centre of the swirl is slightly higher than the others and there is less yellow in the top right corner compared to purple in the bottom left, but there's no way that I'm taking it out to fix that problem and I think that I did a pretty good job in taking a section out of the full design by myself seeing it was one of those patterns that use letters rather than symbols and I always find it harder to 'see' the design on the sheet of paper on those.

I've SO enjoyed looking through this thread - I adore fractals! Well done! They look wonderful! :D :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

I think you might enjoy this:

And this one. which is my current fave partly cos it's longer, and partly cos it's the Mandlebrot set.

Absolutely stunning. You have done a wonderful work with them. I hadn't noticed that the last one was slightly higher until I read about it. Glad you are not going to correct it.

Great work you should be very proud of yourself.

kimkat, WELL DONE!!! This has to be one of the most distinctive and inventive projects I have had the pleasure to follow for some time. I love - and envy - your skill in picking out the individual designs, adjusting them to complement one another, and then cropping down a larger fractal to form the fourth. It's really lovely. :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce: You thoroughly deserve all the compliments that will surely come your way.

PS Please post a pic when it's framed :D
