Lol, I loved it so much, I just went to Ebay and bought the leaflet with both the day and night fairies in it! It is really beautiful and you're doing such a nice job on it!

Thanks everyone. Yes I love the colours in this one to, I think more than the ones in Day.

The pattern though is awful so be careful Parksfarm. I had to wait AGES for the kit to arrive initially. The site I bought it from had to wait for it to come from their supplier. Now Ive discovered about 6 missing stitches (i.e a blank square) and maybe another 15 - 20 where theyve put the wrong symbol in. This is mostly around the edges of the wings, where it changes from 1 over 2 to 2 over 2 but still - is very poor. Thats just on the part I've stitched so far. I dread to think what the rest of the pattern is like. Its almost like the pattern wasn't properly checked/model stitched to check for things like this. Having model stitched quite an intricate design I know I pay attention when I did it and picked up every missing stitch, and noted down when I thought something was wrong. I didnt have these probems with the Day fairy.

Sorry to hear the chart is such a pain, but your stitching is great!

Lovely stitching, the colours give the wings a delicate, ethereal look.

Oh my goodness! I've done a fair bit of my day fairy project and I've realised I've done it completly wrong thanks to your lovely pictures! I've stupidly used two strands for everything and worked as one pattern square being one square of the fabric in the kit (25 cnt linen?) I think you've said its supposed to be one pattern square per 2x2 little squares on the fabric, is that right?

I must reread the instructions and see if I've just completely misunderstood the pattern. Your pictures are tempting me to start the Night Fairy I also have in my stash :)

It took me ages to get the feel for the fabric and be certain that I was doing it right. The picture it gives on the pattern isnt very clear. If you have the full size piece (finished size 40 cm by 40 cm) then it should be one cross over 2 strands of fabric (2 across and 2 down).

With regards to the number of threads - On the Day fairy, the sun that shines through the wings should be 1 strand of thread, if its outside of the sun then its 2 strands. The corner pieces should be 1 strand but I dont see why you couldn't use 2 strands, if you have enough thread.

I hope this helps and you manage to get it sorted. I do have the completed fairy in my stash waiting to be photographed, It needs a few final touches (I think I'm going to alter some bits to make it more personal) and another wash/iron so I'll try and get some photos of that soon.

Yes all sorted now I think. I'm going to have to buy replacement fabric and start again though I think so Im going to be half-way sensible and finish at least some of my WIPs before restarting this one again. Thanks so much for the clarification :)

I hope you get the Day Fairy Photographed soon, it'd be lovely to see the finished product :)

well here's another update for this one. I feel like I've done loads of work on it and not gotten very far but in reality I've done a fair bit

Image

I'm really glad to have gotten the moon and top 2 corners out of the way. The colour changes in the moon seem a little drastic at the moment and some look like the thread is just downright grubby but I'm sure I'll warm to it.

I've officially finished the first 2 pages, including backstitch. I've changed the backstitching on the wing slightly as I didn't like it much on the Day fairy. The colours they used were so faint you could hardly see the definition. This time I've done it all in one colour and its the darker of the 2 shades so it really stands out and I like it. There's a couple of places where there's some brown too which I've left as it is. There's just the back stitch on the bottom half of the wing left to do - which was under the clip on the frame and I didn't want to move it just to do the backstitching.

I've also altered things a little at the tips of the wings. There was (you can see it on the original picture if you look closely) a line of blue stitching in the middle of the brown on the circle at the centre. I thought it looked REALLY wrong and on the pattern it listed it as a brown for the left hand wing. So I changed the right hand wing as well. I think it looks better now.

Its an absolutely nightmare pattern to work with though. So many wrong symbols etc. I'm hoping it will improve further on. but it really makes me think twice about buying Lanarte kits again, and glad that this one is no longer being produced.
