I bought the Sistine Chapel on January 10th - the day it came out. Some of us are planning an April 1st start date, so please join us! That's Palm Sunday, the first day of Holy Week - very appropriate for this design.

I ordered my fabric from Sewandso in the UK because their prices were comparable to those in the US, including shipping, and they sell a 19"x55" cut. I'm using 28ct Jobelan, and with 3" borders the design requires only a 19"x44" piece. My US suppliers don't sell a half yard cut that way. I should receive my order here in Texas this week.

The chart does have a lot of confetti, but not as much as the Angel with Iris I'm stitching now. An added plus is that we'll have a series of finishes as each section is completed.

So....who's joining our April 1st start? The price is only $11.25 in the sale, so it's really reasonable.

Well....one more note. Take a look at the pictures of the work charted by Joanna Lopianowski-Roberts then think of how Michele would chart that detail: http://www.lopianowski-roberts-sistine- ... album.html.

I know...I'm bad.

You are bad!!!!! Thing is I'm not remotely religious, I'm not even sure I would want to hang it in my house at all but its just the details that it would involve and watching that appear on the fabric I think!!!!!

It HAED one thing you can be sure of is that another sale is never far away!!!! So if I can resist this sale and get one of my WIP's finished before the next sale then I'll treat myself.

Think I better get the threads I need to complete my DMC collection ordered cos that should stop me as there will be no money!!!!!

rcperryls wrote:Have you thought ahead at all as to what type of fabric you will use for the chapel? It is over a yard high, isn't it. Actually a meter? if I remember my conversions right? and are you going to stitch all the black for the dragon? There is quite a discussion on the BB about the fabric choice for that design. Good grief. The sale goes on for another 12 days. I do think I am done though.

I haven't thought about what fabric to use yet. I'll have to do some experiments. I might try 28 ct. possibly 2 x 1 tenting, or possibly 1 x 1 full crosses. That would make the design just under a yard long. Any bigger and it would cost a complete fortune to get it framed.
As for dragon, I'm going to get some hand dyed fabric, haven't decided what yet, but I'll be avidly scrutinising the HAED BB for ideas.

What have I done? I know better than to visit HAED, especially during a sale. All I did was advise DH that this was on my wish list, thinking anniversary or birthday or something. Instant gratification is a dangerous thing, ladies.

And I can kit it up at the March craft show at the SECC!

That is going to have to go on my wishlist now. Once I have finished with my cat obsessions, I will have to feed my LOTR one. Wouldn't that go well with my "Burden" which has been calling to me as it is neglected for sure. Can't wait to see you stitching this one. You got it right? I can probably put the purchase off for a few more sales but once its in my wish list I can visit it often.

Lordy, lordy we are so SAD! Oh, yes, I got it alright. 8)

Actually, and don't tell anyone, I have been contemplating feeding my personal LoTR obsession by designing some pieces of my own... but don't hold your breath!

I always wanted to stitch some of the fabulous buildings/castles/fortresses, whatever you want to call them in LOTR but could never find anything or even the right picture to get converted!!!!

You are such a naughty bunch!!! I must say that my heart skipped a beat yesterday when I saw a recent release that had been charted as a mini and another long time favourite of mine........but I was a good girl and put them in my wishlist! I will have to buy them as a reward for finishing something :thinks: .......

I came very close to adding Umbrella Sky to my list also. I'm not sure if it is the background which I loved or her face which would be amazing to stitch. I think it would be great if someone else stitched it and I get to watch the updates. Hint. Hint.

I already have the mini Village Bookstore in my Wish List. I find the minis the most dangerous because its the full picture but smaller and they can be done in a realistic amount of time. I think it must be real subtle differences between the minis and the full charts. Probably more detail.
